Ouch. Am 11 days postnatal and this is first time have been able to sit at pooter. Had 2nd degree tear from ventouse delivery and it hasn't healed!!! The stitches dissapeared but without being too graphic it hasn't erm knitted together.

Midwife assures me it will knit together alone and there is no need for re-stitching.

If that is the case why do they stitch it in the first place. It has been soooooo painful been rattling with Nurofen, voltarol and paracetamol since birth.

Stories, pearls of wisdom, words of comfort anyone???????

ooh no stories/wisdom but big hugs honney (((((((hugs)))))) I had an internal done the day after delivery with a vontouse and stitches (apparently they were infected) I know how painful they can be, all's I can advise is to keep the area clean, can the m/w not give u any stronger painkillers?

Oh Flum, sorry to hear this. Can you talk to the consultant? Make anappointment with your GP an ask for a referral back to him/her. Sounds like the sort of thing that would be better dealt with sooner rather than later.

My sympathies, by the way. Sounds horrible.

Hi. Have read somewhere that Arnica is supposed to be good for healing wounds. Maybe try that? I didn't have stitches for first baby but did tear. I remember going to the toilet was AGONY so I ended up weeing in the shower everytime!!!

I had a 2nd degree episiotomy and a ventouse and forceps delivery. 1 week afterwards I was in agony. I was still in hospital so a doctor came to look. My episiotomy had not been stitched and was an open wound (2cm by 2cm). Like you I was told it didn't need stitching. My experience suggests otherwise....

I had an open wound for 3 months. It was very painful. It has taken 17 months to heal to a point I can have sex. It never knitted together, so the scar is about 1 cm across. It also looks terrible. It is still uncomfortable to sit down. Nothing can be done now.

I am very sorry to hear you are suffering. I would not leave it as the midwife suggests and demand something is done to avoid the long-term problems I have.

I've got exactly the same problem at the moment..am 3 weeks post-natal and very sore!! Was hoping for some advice and came across this post. Was trying to avoid having to show my GP my bits, but think i will have to bite the bullet and go see him tomorrow.
i've been putting Tea Tree oil in my bath and this seemed to be doing the trick for the past 2 and half weeks!
