My baby had to be delivered by EMCS at 38 weeks and in his notes it states her had Oropharyngeal suction. Is this routine? He did need oxygen too and there was a need for an x-ray soon after his birth but I hadn't noticed this term before.

its pretty common after a CS because they don't get as squeezed on the way out so they can be a bit mucusy.

what above poster said. from what I understand the vaginal route means mucous is squeezed out of the nose/mouth/throat,but with CS as they are still inside the placenta when born the mucous is all still there and just needs to be removed when baby is born Smile congratulations by the way! Thanks

So routine rather than to do with the fact he was not breathing when born?

Thank you, by the way.
