Having a big baby and not sure what to do!

Hello there
Have never posted a question on mumsnet though have gleaned much helpful advice through my pregnancy. Am now 39 wks and living inthe states with DH. He was a big baby, 10'1 and had a growth ultrasound last week where they estimated baby is already 8'13. Baby is head down though not engaged..am not dilated, no effacing though cervix ripe-ish!!! Doc reckons because baby and body not making any changes sld be baby already too big to go down bith canal already (I am 5'4 and usually 140).
Am due sat 1st July and have an exam on wednesday and even if still no change they may induce before the baby becomes to big for a vaginal birth. Doc said if I want an elective cesarean they would happily approve...just dont know what to do. Would like a vaginal birth but dont want it to be traumatic for me and baby and may end up with an emergeny cesarean anyway so should I opt for elective. Worry I will feel cheated if I could have delivered naturally......Sorry this is such a rant!!!! Any advice wld be apprecaited particularly from anyone with any experience of delivering a big baby!!!
Thankyou baby Ox

I haven't read the thread but I will say that I was told that DD2 was going to be a really big baby. Scans, womb manipulations etc. She was 8lb born and they were convinced that she would be over 10lbs.

Whilst I know it is easy to say, try not to worry too much about the delivery. Our bodies are capable of truly amazing things. Should you decide to go for the elective all I can say is..... holding a live healthy baby is far more important than being able to say I pushed sh/im out.

Well finally had the chance for an update on that big baby! Decided to be induced a day before my due date as was pretty sure baby could go a couple of weeks overdue and really didn't want him t get too big (as docs were implying). Was dreading the experience....went in on the thurs night and blood pressure was way up..very nervous but by following morning had managed to chill a bit. Doc came fri morn 7.30 to break my waters, began dilating very quickly, contractions strong, epidural at 11.30 and from then on was all good. Gave birth to DS Gorgeous George at 3.20 after 40 mins of pushing. He was 8'8, good size but not humongous and only a little tear for me. Thankfully. it was a fantastic experience and I count myself lucky that my body reacted so well to the induction. Now enjoying being a mummy and discovering the meaning behind all those cries and whimpers??!!
Thankyou all for your words of wisdom...it really helped knowing there are people who can help out there x

Congratulations babyox. See what I meant about scaremongering about large babies? Glad the induction went well for you - you'll be so much more confident next time
