how long should I be bleeding for?

I had my third section five weeks' ago. The lochia stopped at about two weeks', then it came back, or maybe I had a period - the mw did say this is a very fertile time. That stopped last week, but now today I've got bright red blood again - although not a huge amount. It sounds mad but I can't remember how long I bled for with my previous sections. Should I be worried? I am anaemic too which isn't a big help, although I'm not in any discomfort at all.

I don't think there's any "should" about it as everyone is different. I bled shockingly for around 10 days with both of mine then had a less heavy discharge of more "browny" blood until 6 weeks or so ..... but still "enough" to require industrial size pads.

I bled for about 4 weeks solid and then was on and off for a fifth week. If it comes back bright red after stopping, it could be a sign that you are overdoing it a tad. Nothing to worry about but if you think you could have been over doing it. Try to slow down (if you can with 3 kids to look after)!

I thought I had just about stopped at about 10-14 days. Every time I ditched the pads I would have a bit more tho until about 7wks (sometimes red, pink or brown), although it was mostly limited to feeding or a bit of exercise. Even had a little bit last week (about 8wks), although this was tiny. I did wonder whether that I was going to start periods again as dd3 almost sleeping through the night. But this didn't seem to come to anything.

Thanks everyone, I feel a bit better now. Sadly I'm not bfeeding this time but am definitely doing more in terms of looking after the children, so that's probably it.
