2nd deg tear experiences

Had ds two weeks ago and had 2nd degree tear.. it's healed now but hasn't come together. Confusingly midwife says it's healed open. Have been referred to perennium clinic in a couple of weeks and have been advised they may re-sutre.

Has anyone had this happen to them? Not sure what to expect andctge thought of further trauma down there is not appealing nor going thru further recovery....altho clearly I want it fixed

Interest ed to hear your experiences

Thanks in advance.

2 weeks is so so early and it's all still a bit tender I expect but in a few weeks it will start to feel 'normal' again and the thought of further treatment won't be so bad then. my stitches came away too early with my 1st and they said I may need re suturing and at the time the though of it brought me to tears but it all healed better then expected and I needed very little treatment.
I really think the thought of it is much much worse and it's really too early to know what you will need so try and focus on your beautiful new baby as there's plenty of time to sort out down below later. I remember the feeling well so totally empathise with you but it all turned out fine for me and really wasn't that bad in the end

Also, often medical professionals say things with out thinking and they don't realise we hang on their every word x

I saw a GP due to mastitis at 3 weeks. She also examined me as I was so worried the stitches hadn't healed as it looked open. she reassured me & by 6 week check you could barely see the scar

Thank you all . Seems like I need to wait a bit then before getting too worried. However it's hard not to as. I have felt very restricted so far and concerned about going through that again plus I am edging towards urine incontinence and embarrassingly can't control wind so no stopping noisy farts.as it's healed open I'm not sure if pelvic floor exercises will sort that alone and it makes me not want to go anywhere.

Oh bless you that's all so normal at this stage. I remember farting uncontrolably all over the place but that's all fine now. Do your pelvic floor exercises they really do help, if your unsure about them ask for a referral for some physio. It's all so undignified and unglamorous isn't it. I remember watching the duchess of Cambridge the day after she gave birth and thought I bet it's taken all her strength and a lot of people for her to make it out looking like that. I'm sure all she wanted to do was lay on a comfy sofa with some tracky bottoms on and her boobs out (and I'm sure she was farting like a trooper like the rest of us)

Ah booby Thanks that made me chuckle. And reassuring to hear I'm normal. .. everything so overwhelming at this stage isn't it and feels like it will lay forever. . So good to be reminded that everything is a phase- thank you very much indeed xxx
