hot bath after c section

when can you have a good long soak in a hot bubble bath after having a c section? I am 4 weeks post procedure and I really need a hot bath to help muscle tension in my back. I had dissolvable stitches and was told to shower and pat the scar dry but wasn't told when a bath would be ok....do you have to wait until after the 6 week check?

September 2032, when your child goes to university.

I had a bath in hospital the following day, was so much nicer than the grubby shower room. But I didn't have dissolvable stitches. Can you ask your midwife / HV if it is ok? Might be a bit careful with the bubbles as your skin maybe sensitive.

At 4 weeks you have earned a soak in the bath! Assuming your wound has healed well with no redness/swelling/oozing and it feels strong then go ahead. By 10 days post op surface healing is well established and highly unlikely to break down unless there are underlying healing issues eg diabetes. Perhaps best to avoid irritation from bubbles and rinse off your wound with the shower spray or splash with clean water when you finish. Enjoy.

Hi. I didn't have dissolvable stitches but to give you an idea re healing, I had my stitches removed 6 days after my section and could have a bath from day 1. Hope that helps Smile

Hi I was having a bath with a bit of salt in to help the wound as soon as I got home (about 3 days after) on the advise of my midwife mum x
