Hi

I need to decide fairly quickly where to give birth. Does anyone have advice or experience about York, Hull or Scarborough?

Thanks x

Where do you live? Generally I would go for the closest place. I've had three dc in York. All good experiences and they've recently refurbished some of the rooms - extra pool I think and en-suite labour rooms.

I'm moving to basically the middle of all 3. I was born in York, so like that idea, but realistically I know I should go to the best place. Thanks for your advice x

Oh I would go for York then Smile Keep the tradition going!

I had mine at York and it was ok but not fantastic. If I was in your position I would probably check out Scarborough because I have no idea what it's like; not heard good things about Hull.

My last delivery was 6.5 years ago in York. I shouldn't be expressing an opinion really. Am out of date Grin
Scarborough is now part of the same trust as York and there's been a lot of upgrading going on. Not sure if that's reached maternity there yet. I'm assuming the OP is having a winter baby though and the roads going inland may be a better bet than the coastal routes?
I know nothing about Hull but my instinct is to keep away Grin

To be fair, the last one I actually popped out at York was nearly 7 years ago - the 3yo was born in an ambulance but they did take me to York to be checked over Grin

It doesn't seem like that long ago!

I had ds at hull, emergency section, panic, poorly baby, his care was amazing, mine prob could have been better with regard to bf support but that was my only downside. We were in for 2 weeks so it was a long stay. Am due to have dc2 there next year. The antenatal care was amazing too, was under consultant, would recommend him to anyone Smile good luck wherever you choose

Both my dc born at York and both really good experiences. Mine were too quick for me to experience the birthing pool rooms but they did look very nice! Great midwives and I know some of the doctors there and they are all fab. Am 6 years out of date tho' but still hear good things. Is the Malton maternity unit closed now as that was once the place you wanted to be but never hear of anyone using it anymore??

I think Malton don't do deliveries anymore. Shame as it was a genuine midwife led option for women.
