Hi,
Well, you always know your consultants appointment has gone well when the most sensible option is to ask mumsnet instead
I am currently 35 weeks pregnant with DC2. With DC1 I went 10 days overdue, was induced by having my waters broken then put on synotycn. I requested an epidural for this as I'd read some horror stories on here! According to the midwives I was in heavy labour for 12 hours, they also kept turning up the synotycn a lot as I wouldn't dilate. Finally got to 3cm then was taken in for an emcs at midnight as nothing was changing and my body just didnt seem to fancy the whole birthing business much. Initial emcs was fine but my womb wouldn't contract so I had 2.5l transfusion, belkin (?) balloon (in for 48 hours) was in surgery for 3 hours and they only decided 48hours after that I didn't need a hysterectomy. My husband was told at the time that they 'couldn't offer any reassurances' that I wouldn't die. It was not much fun!
So I am now 35 weeks pregnant and have been booked in for an elcs, with up until now all health professionals being very much of the 'well, at least it won't be an emergency this time, will be so much calmer you will be fine' frame of mind, although obviously I am aware that I could bleed again. However saw a different consultant this morning who instead told me a vbac would be way safer and started going on about how I can have a emcs still but obv BIG RISK of big pph, hysterectomy etc. I am now bricking it. Great.
As an aside, my hips are rotated inwards which physio claims would prob cause issues giving birth but consultant said wouldn't. I'm not sure who to believe?!
Any experiences or vaguely professional advice? Am now super stressed about this which understandably is not what I really needed right now. Ta x
