Shock Very worried as I have muscle separation, and a hernia under my popped out belly button. Big babies, fast deliveries, close age gaps. But worth it Smile

Just concerned what will happen as I didn't expect my tummy to get damaged like it already has. So not sure what to expect 3rd time around

Hi I did notice this had gone unanswered. I am not exactly sure but I don't think they will do anything. I have muscle separation and it is extremely painful at times but my consultant has said there is not much they can do to help ease it and this pregnancy is likely to irritate it further which it does.

I cannot imagine it will impact on labour itself although the pressure of pregnancy could make it seperate further during pregnancy and cause issues after birth.

If this is the case the option will be surgery after birth. However mine seperated after baby number 2 and although it has not gone back it has not seperated further despite this being number 5.

No hernia but muscles separated after pg 1. 6 years later DC 2. Still split. No problem. Very easy delivery.
Physio after DC 2 means muscles have now knitted back. Working on my vvv weak core!

I have been told that I will need surgery once stopped having children. Which will be a few years yet.. I'm only 24 and would love more.

My labours were great, fast but great.

Just didn't expect the post tummy damage flyer dd2 as dd1 I didn't have anything really. Slight muscle separation but major.

I just hope it doesn't take ten times as long to recover. My physiotherapist is great and I have tubee grips for my tummy in different sizes to accommodate my tummy whilst expecting and after. And says it just a combination oh close pregnancies, small frame and big babies.

All worth it but I would like to have core strength back some day! She said I have good muscle control web though the spilt is there.

I had an incisional hernia behind my belly button, as there was weakness there following an op I had years ago. I also had split stomach muscles, large babies and fast labours.

No further problems here, although my last pregnancy was painful due to a mesh within my stomach wall after having my hernia removed.

Good luck, and voice any concerns to your midwife.
