I've mostly been leaving mine untouched but for a quick dip in the bath or spray with the shower hose. but I noticed it smelt a bit cheesy yesterday. the MW checked it and said it was fine and no infection today but I'm wondering if I should be cleaning it more. so I kinda touched/rubbed it a bit in the bath then to dislodge any bits but I obviously dont want to do more harm than good.

I'm not putting soap on it or being rough in any way. what did you do?

I'm 12 days in now.

thanks!

I just did the same as you as in just let water run over it. I think a healthy wound can just smell anyway maybe the scabbing, dried blood, stitches can do that. I would just keep with water and not cause any irritation. I did use a maternity sanitary pad laid over it tapped to my underwear to keep it clean and non irritated x

Tea tree oil. Brilliant stuff!

I just used water for the first four weeks or so. After that I think I braved a bit of very plain shower gel, and then started with bio oil after washing at about 10 weeks. Then I just kept wearing massive pants to make sure nothing rubbed on it.

Did nothing really. MW said to leave it alone so i did. Both times. After a few weeks when it stopped feeling weird I noticed the skin there looked a bit brown [boak], and that rubbed off with a damp muslin. TBH I never really thought about it.

I had staples, they were out day 5, and it looked raised and red but smooth and clean, I took arnica and used neat lavender oil rubbed across with cotton wool, healed perfect, going whitish at 5mths now

Cotton wool and warm water. And as mad as it sounds rubbed breast milk over it. A few friends swore by it so thought it was worth a try!

I used cotton wool and warm water then laid flat on the bed and let it dry naturally.
