38 weeks and just found out baby's breech, c-section booked for 40+5 isn't that a bit late?!

I'm in shock at the moment. Two weeks ago mw thought baby's head was almost fully engaged, today she was either very head down or very head up. Sadly, it was the latter.

I'm booked for a home water birth. So at the moment that's gone Sad

They're very busy so I'm having to wait almost 3 weeks for a cesarean. I'm also on crutches for excrutiating SPD. It's been a shit week all in all.

Any hope for baby spinning? Any advice on how long I'm having to wait?

Doctor tried to turn baby today but succeeded in doing nothing and I passed out after a few minutes. I have a high pain threshold, but it was excrutiating.

I think I'm in shock a bit, and still shaky from the dizzy spell. Sitting here in tears waiting for the next thing to go wrong.

Sorry to hear baby isn't cooperating, my midwives could never be certain which way up ds was, he came early and as they were inducing me I asked them to check to be sure!
I imagine there is a chance of baby turning, a friend of mine had a baby turn around 37/38 weeks midwife suggested swimming which she believes did the trick although with spd maybe some floating about might be more comfortable than full on lengths of the pool?
I have also heard reflexlogy or acupuncture works for some people, might be worth a try, I know a good acpuncturist near chichester and good reflexologists near portsmouth or iow or haslemere.
Hope it all goes well however baby decides to appear, fwiw I had hoped for intervention free birth and ended up with induction and ventouse but baby gorgeous all the same!

Thanks redcar, last week I even spoke to my mw about having a c-section because I couldn't even move to undress myself one evening. But I'd decided not to and to struggle on. Now it feels like not only has my decision been taken away from me, I'm going to have to put up with 3 weeks of agonising SPD, followed by the pain of recovering from abdominal surgery. The worst of both worlds.

I'm also terrified of hospitals and the idea of staying in fills me with dread. I want to be at home with all my dcs.

Will look into acupuncture etc, but I'm sceptical, which doesn't help.

Hi there, I am having an elective C-section tomorrow, for the same reasons, baby is breech. I have waited 2 weeks and am now 40 weeks, so I assume during the 40th week is ok/ normal. I had a vaginal birth last time so also had to deal with lots of disapointment.
However the few weeks I have had have helped me to read up on it and acknowledge the benefits. I'll go into the new baby phase not exhausted mentally and physically from hours of labour, or stressful induction, and the recovery period will force me to take it easy and enjoy just being with the new baby. I'll also have the excuse for lots of help with my DS, who is 2.5. Nobody will be expecting me to just bounce back after a day or two. imalsomhad unsuccessful ECV and it was really horrible and I was in tears. Comparatively I am hoping the section will be more straightforward and the appropriate pain relief will help!

I didn't suffer from SPD so that is an added nightmare for you, sounds really challenging. Make sure everyone around you knows you need help and support, too many times I have thought I'd rather not ask for help, but people are so willing if you do - even if you have to swallow some pride.

Wishing you the best.

Also to say I tried moxibustion, reflexology and number outs baby spinning positions, in the end got exhausted trying to turn baby! I felt better after a good shot at it just to accept it, and there is always a chance the baby will turn on its own. I some how felt if I relaxed and stopped doing random inversions it might, but no luck and with the section tomorrow that is looking unlikely!
