Period type pains and pressure

Apologies that this is similar to the thread that something might be happening but I was hoping to find someone with experience!
Since about 34 weeks I've been having mild period pains and pressure that have built up more each week. I seem to get them in the night while I sleep quite bad for a while then I just drop off again!
During the day they're not particularly painful just uncomfortable. They also aren't mega common but they happen a few times a day.
I also noticed they seem to be worse when I need the toilet either for a wee or a poo! Or could it be the pains causing me to need the toilet?
I mentioned about the pains today to my midwife who said its a bit early to be having period pains (36+2) and said its a sign things are starting to happen but wasn't overly concerned by it.
Any experience or help would be brill Smile

I have had the same from about 32 weeks and now 38 weeks. My mw said it wasn't something to be too worried about unless you get braxton hicks/pains starting regularly. Baby gets bigger more pressure and lack of space squashes everything etc so generally much more uncomfortable the closer you get to d day...but if you feel like it really isn't something you feel is normal I would go get checked out....

I had the same from about 34 weeks too. When I mentioned it to my midwife she was exactly the same way about it. I've heard braxtons are worse when you need a wee too. The good thing is that your body's getting some good practice in for the run up to labour. I found these little practice sessions built up quite rapidly at the very end just before I went into labour.

But do trust your instinct, if it starts to feel different or intense don't worry about contacting the midwives. They won't mind if it's a false alarm.
