Please tell about your recent ELCS experiences at Kingston Hospital...

Had an emcs there with dd in May 2011 and ended up with PTSD. Very calm at the moment and excited to meet baby! But nervous re the prospect of what will happen in 12 days after what I exprienced the first time around.

Any tips/stories/what to expect/when to be a bit more up front about what I need/useful information?

Ta!

Hello

Sorry I'm not sure what ELCS/PTSD is but just wanted to respond, I had a great experience at Kingston with my first couldn't fault the care I received pre/post birth, I had a fairly quick pool birth and would recommend trying out the pool if its available for you to use I found it really helped.
I hope everything goes well for you :-)

ELCS - elective c section
EMCS - emergency c section
PTSD - post traumatic stress disorder

thanks lucylev for your story :-)

I was induced at Kingston which failed and led to a cs. Not emergency as such as I was not in labour but not my first choice iyswim.

I found the anaesthetist brilliant and the high dependency ward mw very good. It is a very very busy unit when you move into post natal. I never saw the same mw or paed twice. I had some bf issues and struggled to get support but see this is not your first dc so you won't be bewildered as I was!

I am sure you will be just fine!!

Hi IAte. I had elc 18 maths ago at Kingston. Was fantastic experience. Anaesthetist asked me for my music but I hadn't brought any. So he asked my what year I was 18 and played his iPod music from that year! Everyone was incredible. I then got my own room with ensuite (a million miles away from the hectic post natal ward I'd experienced elsewhere!) Midwives were busy and not much time to pass too much time but they were busy with nervous first time mums so I totally understood. They were all without exception lovely. They were happy I shared all my chocs etc with them too! This is my main tip! Wink
Best of luck and so exciting! Enjoy your precious new bundle! Smile
