Feeling period type pains at 35 weeks

Hello! I'm probably fussing over nothing, but for about a week or so I've been getting period pains and pressure aswell as lots of tightenings that are gradually getting worse (although completely bareable) Is it common for pains to start at 35 weeks? Or is it a sign he may come early? I'm currently experiencing the most noticeable pain/pressure that's been non stop for 10 minutes now and my thighs kinda feel sore. Any info or experiences would be greatly appreciated Smile

Hi, I have a similar thread going now (the "any midwives to look at my symptoms" one) and there are a couple in the pregnancy section too. Sorry, linking is a hassle on my phone. I'm 39 weeks and have been having these pains since 35 weeks. From what I've gathered, it can take that long for your body to warm up to labour. It's very annoying and leaves you feeling like you're constantly waiting to go into labour, but like I say, I've had that for a month now! If the pain gets really bad and regular call your triage unit, but I think it's totally normal. Good luck for the next few weeks!

Ooh thank your will find it and have a read!! I'm dying to meet my baby now, so excited! Keep getting my hopes up thinking I won't be late but it could be whenever :) hope your pregnancy is going well and not getting fed up waiting for bambino! :)

Ah, I know, it's so hard to keep being patient! Especially when your body is constantly trying to fool you! Someone did say to me on the other thread that every pain is doing something to prepare your body. I found that really helpful, because it made me think that they weren't just annoying, pointless pains. Not too much longer for either of us now though..!

Yeah I saw that message! It's a very nice way to think about what's happening Smile cause when I get my pains I get a bit excited then when they stop I'm like aww! Hmm But what a lovely way to put it Smile just having some pains again now, enjoying it more now!! Won't be too long before we've both got a lovely little one to snuggle!

Also, I hope you don't mind me asking! But do you get period pains when you need a poo? I get it quite a lot when I do. Just had it now but then didn't need to go, don't get the link really aha!

Yeah, I almost always get diarrhoea with it. I don't really get it either, but there's something about the uterus and bowels being connected. Lots of women have a big "clear out" in early labour too. It's another thing that keeps making me think I'm close but then turns into nothing. Also the last couple of days my boobs have been leaking like mad, all throughout the day. I don't know if that's another way that my body is getting ready for labour... Having a baby is an amazing thing but its a bloody weird process! Btw do you know what you're having?

Rachael200694 · 31/07/2013 10:26

Damn haha! I'm fed up of waiting! Confused Too giddy!
And I haven't had much leaking yet, I just had one boob leak a tiny bit which I thought was weird haha! Hope you haven't had any leaking accidents when out and about, the classic wet patches coming through your t-shirt!
And I'm having a little boy :) my bump measurements keep measuring really big on the chart when I go to the midwife so I'm now hoping I'm further on than I am haha. Clutching at straws!! Do you know what you're having? Smile and how have you been measurements wise?

Ooh congratulations! Mines a boy too. I've been told so many lovely things about little boys. They're apparently very uncomplicated and they love their mummies!

I've been measuring on track the whole time, so no experience there, sorry! You might have extra fluid maybe? Or yeah, you're actually 40 weeks, that'd be good! Skip the whole last month!

I had a midwife appointment today and age says I'm in latent lab

SourSweets · 31/07/2013 23:08

Oops.. Labour and it will only be a few more days she thinks. So that's good! She's partly so sure it won't be long because I've been having the period pains for such a long time, so you might not go over either, and may even be a bit early! She also thinks it'll be a quick labour but I have no idea what that's based on!

Hope you're managing to get lots of rest and sleep in between aches and pains x

SourSweets · 31/07/2013 23:11

Oh and she said "oh great!" When I mentioned the poo thing. Apparently that's a good sign that things are working in the right way!

Rachael200694 · 01/08/2013 12:17

Yeah me too! Absolutely tonnes of people have said how lovely little boys are, and that little girls are more stroppy haha Grin me and my partner were both really pleased to be having a little boy, but we'd like a little girl in the future too Smile

Ooh how exciting!! I bet you're pleased Smile make sure you're getting plenty of rest too and eating well, I'm even giddy for you haha!

Midwives make you laugh with what they get giddy over, when my bump measured big my midwife couldn't contain herself!! Smile You'll have to let me know if your little one arrives, whenever you get chance Smile how exciting!!!

Also, I think she might think your labour will be quick because you've been having pains for so long, maybe that means your body has been busy getting ready and you'll have less work to do on the big day! Smile
