Homebirth for DC3 before scheduled induction

i would be really interested in any HCP or others with similar experiences opinions on this. Apologies for length. Will try to keep it as brief as possible.

I am currently 34w with DC3. Several years ago i was diagnosed with antiphospholipid syndrome. This caused me to have 4 early (12 weeks and a less) miscarriages. Since the diagnosis i was put on aspirin and fragmin with each subsequent pregnancy which thankfully have been successful.

With DD1 i was induced at 40+11 (cock up on hospitals part as i shouldn't have been allowed to go over 40 weeks apparently but i had just changed hospitals a month prior and my notes didnt make it to the right people). Was in the consultant led unit but only saw midwives. Once labour was started it was fast and furious and DD1 was born with no other interventions. Labour took maybe 6 hours at most from go to woe.

DD2 i was induced at 39w. Labour took about 4 hours, most of that was going from 3-5cm. I went from 5-10cm in 10 minutes and DD2 basically came shooting out with very little effort from me. No complications or other interventions.

So now we have DC3 (DS1) and i saw my consultant last week. She has booked me in for induction for 39+6. This is really a long stop date as i am 40y/o and have been told all along that i wont be allowed to go over 40w. Other than booking the induction consultant is now happy to release my care back to the community midwives as everything is progressing normally and she does not feel that i represent a "high risk" anymore.

So my question is, do you think it would be practical to request a home birth if i go earlier than my scheduled induction date of 39+6? I had a growth scan last week and at 34w baby is huge. I have a very strong suspicion that i wont make it to 39+6.

I am 40y/o, have a BMI of 37 but have two very quick and straight forward labours under my belt. Other than my BMI the only complicating factor i can think of is that i will continue to take the fragmin and asprin.

It would make organising childcare sooo much easier (we are furrinors so have no family in the UK to look after the DDs so would have to rely on friends/neighbor being randomly available) and the idea of not winding up in that hot chaotic post natal ward sounds really lovely.

Would welcome any thoughts.

You have 3 risk factors, your age, your bmi and the fact that you are on fragmin. I would be very surprised if they do not recommend a hospital birth as you are at higher risk of bleeding afterwards due to both bmi an fragmin. It is your choice though, if you decide you want to go for it and they aren't helpful, ask if you can speak to a supervisor of midwives who can support you.
