Placenta still low @32 weeks

I was told at my 20
Week scan that I had a low lying placenta. Rescanned at 32+3 on Tues ad it is still low, touching and partially covering cervix. The midwife sonographer said she thought it was v unlikely it would move. Have to have further scans at 34 and 36 weeks to see if it has moved and if not they will admit me (wasn't clear when) and deliver by cs at 38/39 weeksHmm.

I am a bit gutted as this is my second baby and I had a normal vaginal delivery with dc1. I am also upset at the thought of leaving my ds while I go into hospital, although I have an incredibly supportive and capable dh and family around me to help
Out.

I am just a bit nervous now as they say if I have any bleeding to go straight in and then I googled and it said that cs is Performed with a blood transfusion on standby which terrifies me a bit. Also placenta is anterior- trying to figure out the logistics of that and cs is puzzling me too!

Does anyone have any experience of this?

Also I am worried about bf. I bf my son for 18m and it is so
Important to me to do it again. How Is getting bf established after a section different to Normal?

Just Hmm as not the birth I had in mind at all. But dh has told me I need to do as I am told!

Mine was picked up at 28wks.

They wanted me to stay in on bed rest then.

I had a toddler so not really possible.

I was scanned every 3 weeks & by 36wks it was no longer in the way.

I gave birth 2 days after!

I was hysterical at the thought of a csection.

I'm terrified of GA, but didn't think I'd dare have it done whilst awake.

Fortunately, I didnt have to make that decision.

Unfortunately for you, only time will tell if a CS is necessary & the waiting for those scans is awful.

Obviously though, if that turns out to be the safest option for you & baby, you'll know it's the right thing.

It sounds like you have exactly what I had, position and everything. Mine didn't move and had a few bleeds. I was lucky that they let me go home as we lived round the corner but had to stop work early and rest at home. After last bleed at around 35 and a bit weeks they admitted me and I had to stay in till they scheduled cs for 37 weeks. So late on it is unlikely they will move because your belly doesn't grow so dramatically.

I didn't have a little one already to worry about but other women in the same boat did and they came in and stayed each day. If you have a supportive dh that is wonderful.

Re the cs, it was great. Yes they have to hae blood on standby and they did tell me a few poss scenarios that were scary but it all went so smoothly and it really was very quick and easy. Being 'high risk' we were first too so no waiting around. Just take things easy for a few weeks but really el cs is very easy on your body.

It was all fine and I'm sure you will be too. But my big advice would be to wrap up loose ends very where and get organised for possibly having to suddenly drop everything and go into hospital early as that will most likely happen with little warning.

Oh and I was also worried about cs and bf - no need! He's almost one now and still bf :-)

Thank you for your advice. The whole thing is just a but scary so good to hear your outcomes.
