Not seeing my consultant again for a while and I'm interested about how the process might work.

I had to be at hospital for 7.30 am. I was supposed to br first to be taken for section, so was supposed to go at 9, however at 8.45 an emergency came and someone needed the theatre, so I ended up going in around 11, and had my beautiful DD in my arms by 11.20.

As I was leaving theatre I heard the staff debating whether they would do the other planned section straight after me or would they rather go and have their lunch first, as the surgeon said he was very hungry lol.

Nicknamegrief · 17/07/2013 20:54

I had to be there for 8. There were four planned sections on the list. I was number two in the priorities. Baby born at 2- there were 2 emergency section that interrupted the schedules.

Date was booked the 10days before the section, however I had only moved into the area 4 weeks before baby was born so others may have been given a date earlier.

I'm having my 4 th section in 2 weeks and I have to be at the hospital at 7am. My 3 previous were the same time and I had the op between 10 and 11am could be the same this time although if an emergency arrises the op could be later on.

Had to be there for 7.30, I was third on the list, last one of the morning. They put me in that slot as they were concerned I might have adhesions making the op harder and wanted time into lunch to run into. Had ds at about 12.30.

Babouche · 17/07/2013 20:57

I've had 3 ELCSs.
Had to be there at 7.30.DCs born between 10-12.45.
They only had an elective list in the morning and tried to get them all done before lunchtime .

Day one -early start and then sent home at 6pm. Too many emergencies!
Day two - had bub just before lunch. Much relieved.

They rate you on the day -high risk or higher risk always come first.

phlebas · 17/07/2013 21:06

had to be there at 7am each time - I was first on the list twice & the baby was born by 9:15 each time last time I was second on the list & ds was born at 10:30 ish. My hospital have a separate theatre & consultant team for electives so you don't get pushed back for emergencies.

JollyShortGiant · 17/07/2013 21:07

Argh, 7am?? We're an hour from the hospital and have to drop DS off on route, so we'll have to be up at a ridiculous hour if they need me that early.

8am. Ds zipped out by 10.04am.

Slightly later than if the anaesthetist hadn't been busy trying to get my CD to work!

turkeyboots · 17/07/2013 21:11

7am here too, for both sections in different hospitals.

DD born at 11.14, DS born at 12.10

blackteaplease · 17/07/2013 21:20

7.30 for mine and actual elcs at 11.30. I got my pil down to stay the night before to do the nursery run and babysit dd in the evening. That way dh could stay til the end of visiting hours.

nowwhat · 17/07/2013 21:29

Arrived at hospital 7:30am, he was born at 9:14am. Had been told to anticipate emergencies and probably would be delayed, but I was first on the list and there were no emergencies that morning as it turned out.

He'd have been out slightly earlier but they pretty much had to hold me down in order to put my drip in and get my spinal done! Grin

LovelyWeatherForDucks · 17/07/2013 21:36

I had to be there at 7am, and was second on the list and baby was born at 11.30am. Luckily no other emergencies came up. They seem to proritise sections based on the reason - mine was for a breech baby and expected to be straightforward, they did twins before me.

A friend who had their baby the following day was kept waiting til 4.30pm because of emergencies that came up, despite being second on the list too.

8am (I was 39 weeks)

Luckily I was really quick getting organised with my gown and bags (I sussed out another planned cs lady was on the ward and she was fannying around) and they took me through first. DD was whipped out around 9:30am.

Jollyb · 18/07/2013 16:06

Having a section tomorrow. Have to be there by 7.30am. They have a separate theatre for emergencies so will hopefully have a baby by lunchtime.
