How did you feel 4 weeks after? I still feel uncomfortable and the skin around the incision (mostly above incision and below belly button) is really sore to touch. So any clothing that rubs is really uncomfortable. It kind of feels like sunburn and is just the top layer of skin that hurts.
Does that sound normal?

Not from mine - no. I've had 3 c-sections, the latter 2 were elective. If anything around the scar just felt numb.

I am not a medic but the hot feeling could indicate an infection - is it a bit stinky at all?

HRHwheezing · 02/07/2013 20:23

Mine did hurt for around 8 weeks. I've had two sections.

I just didn't feel well after the second one. At 6 week check, they ave me antibiotics and I felt much better after I had taken them.

Sunburn sounds like an infection. Go to the gp if you are worried.

I couldn't wear normal pants or jeans as they would rub the scar. I had to wear maternity combats / leggings and high waisted pants for some time.

But the scar wasn't red and tender at 4 weeks, it was healing up.

Sorry Bee but no burning.

Some soreness and a lot if numbness though.

Thanks for all your replies. Maybe I should go to gp then. It doesn't feel hot. You know when you get sunburnt and it's feels sore when your clothes rub it, it feels like that! Weird!

My scar was healing well by 4 weeks - a bright pink line, but no weeping or angry redness.

It would still burn/itch/feel 'pully' if I did too much walking or lifting, or if I wore the wrong waistband. I wore over the bump maternity jeans and big pants for about 2 months I think.

If you're in any doubt, talk to your midwife or GP. It's not worth ignoring as that could delay the healing.

At 3 and a half weeks post emergency c section, I went to the GP today after having symptoms similar to yours (pain and discomfort above the wound, stingy/throbbing pain on the wound despite the wound looking ok etc). GP checked me out and reassured me that all was well (ie no infection) and it was all part ofthe healing process. He said that although the scar is low down, they pull the skin right up to get baby out so the area above the scar does take a real battering and will be bruised inside. He said it takes a good six weeks to heal, and I needed to be patient (something i'm not good at!). He also prescribed some stronger painkillers as paracetomol weren't enough for me.

I think we often forget that c section is major abdominal surgery and it will take time to fully heal.

However, i would recommend a quick visit to your GP to a) rule out any infection which can easily and quickly be treated and b) to put your mind at rest that everything is healing properly (and possibly get some stronger painkillers)

Good luck!

Yes I had something similar, but its always best to err on side of caution, many ladies have posted here saying they had internal infections. I am no expert but I believe its temperature you have to watch for????

Its 7 months on and I feel fine.

also you have the scar low down and just above that the internal stictehcs.

Ragwort · 03/07/2013 22:28

I felt nothing after my EMCS - I can't even see a scar Confused - do I have a lot of fat and/or pubes Grin ? - I sometimes just wonder how they got my baby out of me.......... . I would get your symptoms checked out by the doctor.

You may have an infection or a touch of thrush.
