Hi.. I am just after some advice really! I had a sweep on Monday which didn't seem to do anything, but had a bit of a show last night and still going on overnight and this morn. When I stand up and walk around I get PGP so am sitting mostly, I know walking is supposed to help but its just painful. I haven't had any Brixton hicks as far as I am aware of, just back ache. I am wondering if I am mixing up PGP with Brixton hicks but when I sit they tend to go away shortly after. I am assuming when I have contraction I will just know... Can anyone explain the difference between contractions and PGP...? Thanks!!!

Hi, Im' sorry I can't help much as I am pregnant with my first and unsure what sort of PGP you suffer from (ie in hips/ back/ pelvis) but wanted to sympathise. I've had SPD throughout and am now 39+4. I think I was getting Braxton Hicks from 20 weeks but didn't recognise them as such. My experience is that BH are a very tight/ heavy/ pulling sensation across your bump - all over, not localised. I've been getting more back ache and also some pains on one or either side today and personally have no idea whether they are contractions or the baby moving! Hope someone else can advise and/ or you're in labour! Good luck. X

Hi thanks for replying. It's weird the only tightening that I seem to get is right at the top of my bump which I think is just baby pushing his bum out as it can last for quite a while. The PGP pain is in my pelvic area and hasn't bothered me too much untill recently and now I have to stop when I get up and wait for it to pass. I think I am just wishing any pain/movement I get is labour! Not long to go now fingers crossed!! Hope your pains have developed into labour :-)
