Transverse baby at 35 weeks

Hi my baby has been transverse since 28 weeks and my midwife at my 34 week appointment discussed that if he doesn't turn I will need a ecv she didn't explain it well so went on google and now I'm not sure I want the procedure. I have read a few talks on here and I have now decided that I really don't want it, even though I know it is a small risk to my baby I don't want to risk it.

He might still turn (fingers crossed) but if he doesn't the only option is a c section. I don't know much about c sections so advice on this would be amazing.

i have to say as a complete home-birther i too would make your decison.

you dont have to have an ECV... they are offering it to you, you have the right to decline.
transverse would be one of the few reasons i would consent to a routine C section too.

remember its all your choice, they cant make you do anything, and while they may offer the the ECV you have every right to decline this offer and choose the C section you want to get your baby out safely.

and in the mean time i hope s/he turns.

(my friend had a transverse baby, she also had other medial complications which meant she had to have a Csection, the night before her C section he turned from transverse to head down, though due to other complications she still couldnt chance a vaginal birth.... so there is time yet!)

There are ways you can try to get the baby to turn. If you have a birthing ball you can spend lots of time bouncing! I know there are positions that encourage baby to turn. A friend of mine's baby was transverse until quite late and turned just a couple of weeks before she was born.
Good luck x

Hi thanks for your advice. I am hoping he turns, although I have been warned he is a big baby and may not have room to turn. Fingers crossed

Hi

I had a breech baby and did not want an ecv. Luckily the consultant I saw was great and discussed all the options fully. As it turned out after scan and examination my ds was breech, engaged and in a strange position so it was elcs as ecv had no chance of working.

The elcs was nerve wracking but fine and I'm just glad he is here safely. Fingers crossed for turning, spinning babies was my bible for weeks but as it turned out ds liked bring the wrong way up and got stuck when he grew to big to turn.
