Birthplan for elcs

Just that really! I will be having an elcs in August, and while I know a lot of the day will be out of my control and in the hands of the surgeon, I was wondering what things I should consider and write down.

For example, Skin to skin as soon as possible and breast-feeding if possible are very important to me. What other things do I need to think about?

Any advice about the days before, and weeks after would also be very appreciated.

You could consider whether you would like the baby to stay in your view whilst being checked weighed etc, or whether you would like to leave checks until a bit later. Also whether you want to be told the sex/ find out for yourself (if you don't already know). If you would like vitamin k jab given, or the drops (or neither). Make sure they know how important skin to skin and bf is to you.

Before I would get as much sleep as possible! Take your own pillow with you (never enough in hospital) as well as magazines / music / something to keep you busy if your section is delayed. afterwards I would make sure I had peppermint tea to drink and arnica to hand. lots of water / cordial to drink (take straws). tea tree and lavender baths really good for healing. And wear big pants so that they don't rub the scar, as well as a night shirt with button opening for feeding and lots of skin to skin. That's all I can think of for now, sure someone will have more ideas soon.

Thank you, that gives me lots to think about!

Most of the advice I have found seems to be about V-birth and might not apply in this case.
