So what exactly happens when you go for a sweep?

I'm booked in for a sweep next week. What can I expect from the appointment?

Do the midwives have a look up there to see if its favourable first? Are you lying down? Do they use one of those smear test contraptions?

I know it's probably TMI but can anyone tell me?

Its ok chickenfactory Grin
Sorry you had to have your cervix 'walked' (unusual terminology that my mw used!). If you do get induction booked - the number of people i heard were booked for induction but labour started naturally before they went to hosp! So bare that in mind Grin

I hope you get the vbac that you want llamallama

Good luck Bog x

Awwww! Congratulations!!!'

Another quick question : I assume I will be ok to drive myself to and from the appointment? Or am I likely to be too uncomfortable afterwards??

Congrats loganmummy

You should be okay llamallama - unless the sweep is even more effective than loganmummys was, in which case i wouldnt leave the doctors Wink

Good luck to all you pregnant ladies!

So I had my sweep today and it was totally fine! Not painful at all and I would say only very slightly uncomfortable. All in all the experience was fine. I had a student midwife and she was fab.

She said cervix was posterior but walked it forward and managed to do a good sweep. Reckons that I was around 2cm dilated. It was very strange when she told me she felt baby's head and that she has hair!

But I'm still not in labour!! So who knows!

had a sweep this morning, wasn't too bad, cervix could only just be reached by mw, she. tried as much as she could and booked another for Tuesday,
it was uncomfortable but wasn't the worst thing in the world and im now getting some discharge so I hope it starts things off
