PPH management in subsequent labour's

I know variations of this question have been asked before but can't find anything when searching.
Had a PPH after first delivery, resulting in blood transfusion - 2 Units.
Been to the m/wives this morning and she has advised that I will have to have a venflon fitted when I get to the hospital and then syntocin drip immediately after birth to prevent possible pph this time round.
:( I know I can do labour and delivery naturally cause I've done it before and know what my body does during it and was very unconcerned about labour at all - this add's a whole unknown equation in which is fightening me about going into labour this time.
What were your experiences of being in this situation please?
Thanks in advance.

i don't know about the venflon but i had to have the synotocin drip after dd's birth to control bleeding and contract down the uterus and aside from being a nuisance during the night when your trying to tackle bf-ing and nappies it didn't have any side affects, i'd had a drug free labour too so i would have noticed.

hope someone comes along soon with info on the venflon for you

I'm guessing the contractions are quite mild then rather than feeling like being in full blown labour again if you had it running for several hours?

The venflon is the needle bit they put in your hand to attach the drip too.

Thank you - your response has made me feel much better about it all :)

well i'm not too pushed about needles so that was fine, a bit awkward like i said but nothing to panic about. the only pain i had was very mild cramping but nothing that i wouldn't have expected anyway after the birth and no worse than very mild period cramps. glad i could help sweetie Smile
