So, eat pineapple or not?

I can't remember which thread it was on but some people were saying that eating pineapple really helped them get things going and someone came on saying it wasn't a good idea as it hardened the mucous plug. So, now I don't know whether to try it or not!

I've been told I will be induced by 40 weeks because I'm over 40 and am booked in for a sweep next week at 39 weeks but if I can avoid intervention I'd like to. Hence being curious about the pros and cons of pineapple (amongst other things).

Any thoughts either way?

I thought you had to generally feel relaxed and safe in order to go into labour. Have a lovely bath with some relaxing lavender oil in it and a big bar of chocolate, with a magazine or book to read. Repeat until in labour.

The sex one is the one that the midwife said is the only one that has any truth. Good luck, it's very exciting.

They seem to think there is a risk of reduced placental blood flow after 40 weeks in older mums. I guess they have to put the cut off point somewhere (hence not suggesting it at 39) - the same way that if you have a baby at 36+6 it's considered premature but if you have it at 37 exactly it's not.

They may be being extra cautious with me because I'm 43 and have lost 6 pregnancies prior to this one.

Went for my sweep yesterday but the midwife couldn't reach my cervix as it was too far back, so it's raspberry leaf tea, clary sage oil, acupuncture and patience. Another sweep attempt on Tues and probably proper induction on Wednesday if that doesn't work. I love pineapples but I don't think I can deal with the core, it's a bit fibrous! I was given a handful of the chillies which set my friend off a couple of months ago so might do something with them over the weekend after a hefty dose of omeprazole to stop me spontaneously combusting from acid reflux.

A friend and a midwife told me nipple stimulation can help bring on labour/ help move labour on if it slows down...Not sure if its true?
