I'm so torn, bit long winded but, breech baby, drs offered ecv or elcs was meant to go in last fri but they had too many emergencies so rebooked for this mon. I don't feel sold on ecv but don't want elcs I'm so torn there's pros and cons for both I just keep going rnd and rnd!! (Also fell downstairs sat and am so bruised on my back don't want the ecv to bring on labour whilst I'm feeling so battered, but an 37+3 so mon is my last and only chance at ecv!) HELP!!!!

I think I'd have to try the ecv first as the thought of an section fills me with dread, but that's just me.

My fs is breech too but so far I have refused ECV though they are keen for me to try and with two other dc the thought of section is not what I want but turning not for me.

The ecv is worrying me because you just don't know what's going on in there and even though they monitor you you inevitably have to go home and I think I would be worried until its born and elcs is a major op! I have read so many things re. Both procedures and they both seen hideous! Aarrgghh!! What to do!!!

That's actually one of my points against-it hasn't turned naturally so I would be forcing it to do something it hasn't done itself, and my stomach is so hard and tight I'm not that big it's all baby, it's just the elcs recovery that worries me!

Id only add, there are risks associated with this procedure, and they can be severe. Linking to the thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/a1542806-Are-people-aware-of-the-dangers-of-ECV

I had an elc and was scared going into theatre, they said i was most scared person they had in a long time.
however once into it - i was fine, its over sooo quickly, it was calm, controlled, and great, staff wonderful ( not quite so on the ward)...

i dont give it a thought now really 5 months on, feel great, starting to excersie properly, all intact down below which for me a huge bonus.

after first birth i felt traumatised for 5 years, breaking into tears when went back to ward where had her!

now i woldnt give it a second thought and if i went back to see the theatre where she was born, i would probably cry tears of joy!

it was very healing actually after first.

I have a midwife friend (who is VERY pro-natural deliveries and looking at imaginative ways of labouring). When dc3 was transverse she told me in her view not to even consider a ecv. I was only 33 weeks or so and as it turned our dc3 did end up head down. Hmm, I have just remembered though that she did advise delivering a breech baby wasn't that hard. Not sure i wanted to test her theory.

You may want to look at moxibustion as that has a comparable success rate to ECV. Planned LSCS is fine but don't forget the implications for any future pregnancies and births. Good luck.

Had my ecv-didn't work! Hurt like a bitch!!! But I'm fortunate, I'm fine baby is still happy and c-section is booked so that's that!! I'm glad it's all done with to be honest, thank you ladies for your advice and help!!!
