Hi there, I am 34 weeks and will be giving birth at Pinderfields in Wakefield. My midwife says there is an online virtual tour of the site but I can't find it anywhere - Am I being dumb? Does anyone have a link to this?

Thanks xx

Think I've found it here www.mystorkwalk.co.uk/my-stork-walk-draft. Any use?

My stork walk is all there is and is a bit rubbish really. Im due at Pinders any day now ( hopefully) and haven't got a clue what to expect.

Thanks for that, I found the stork walk but hoped there would be something else too. Oh well, I guess I'll have to wait and see. :)

It's not bad actually. The food is bloody miles away from the actual bays though. Showers all work, bedside TVs don't work so take some entertainment with you. There is no toaster either on the labour ward or the postnatal ward so you won't get toast after your delivery (this was irrationally very important to me) so I took my own food for afters. The cafe downstairs is pretty good though according to dh. They don't supply formula so if you aren't planning to bf then you need to take your own bottles and milk. The bays are massive, plenty of room so you aren't falling over the cot and your bag every time you get out of bed and all the beds are the new electric ones with the control pad. Pillows are dire as always so take your own unless you like sleeping on a wafer of cardboard. They also have a woman who comes round every morning to give you the low down on bf, she will help with latching on and how often to feed etc. she is very very knowledgable about breastfeeding, it's all she does. Midwives available at other times to help you but they are busy as always.
Labour rooms are big, some have a bath, some don't. There is an emergency maternity entrance down the left side of the building as you look at the main entrance, but you will have to go into the hospital from the entrance on Aberford road where the traffic Lights are rather than the entrance with the car parks.
Hope that helps, any more questions give me a shout, I had dd there 2 months ago and also dsis is a midwife there so I know/can find out most things.
