Gave birth to my lovely little boy yesterday, was unfortunate to need a forceps delivery and have an episiotomy.

I have been to wee and it was not as bad as I was expecting!! But I have to know, I have to ask... How long until you went for a number two, and how much did it hurt?

Be honest, I want to be prepared!!

I was given a leaflet in hospital showing the best position to take - it involved putting your feet up on something about a foot high whilst on the loo. Did this and everything ok, seems to help if I'm constipated every now and then

I was home so it must have been 3 or 4 days. I remember the mw being a bit firm about me giving it a go and sending dh out for the lactulose.

It was ok actually. I also held a pad against the stitches, but I think it was just to make me feel better rather than there being any real risk about them splitting.

:) Glad to have been of assistance.

I went the next day had loads of lactolse and held some loo roll over the stitches, it was fine didn't hurt at all.

I had an episiotomy 11 days ago and was stitched right up to my bum, I was nervous too and took some stool softener, I finally had a poo on day 3 and it really was fine, I deliberately didn't try and push it out and just let it come out naturally. Didn't hurt a bit.

It hasn't hurt to wee either, I've been leaning forward so the wee flows forward and not across any stitches.

My top tip is make sure someone's looking after the baby so he's not screaming while you are concentrating on your poo.

Tell your DP that under no circumstances is he to bring the baby to the bathroom door saying "I think he's hungry" while you are busy concentrating. Angry

Congratulations on your lovely baby though! Smile

Mine was day three after giving birth but I hadn't done one for two days before that, so it was five days worth of poo. The reality wasn't as bad as the fear!

Thank you all for your support and reassurance!! Good call on the Lactulose, made things a lot easier. The reality was definitely better than the fear.

I tend to have a habit of creating TMI threads... So, continuing along this topic line, how long until you could sit down without saying "Ouch!" (Or other colourful words to that effect)??

About 2 weeks for me. Arnica cream is your friend.
