Last meal before a caesarian?

I'm due to have an ELCS next week and was told not to have anything to eat after midnight and just a light evening meal. Any suggestions? Would something like soup or chicken breast be considered fairly light?

I was told nothing after midnight but they didn't say anything about the evening meal so I went out to a pub for a slap up dinner and pudding.

I think just have what you would normally have - nothing unusual or that your body isn't used to, so it isn't likely to cause you any digestive troubles.

fwiw, I think I had spanish omelette - a decent helping.

I ate light in the 24hrs before my planned CS (had last pasta the day before). I'd eaten a lot before my emergency section and my bowels were in a state so I was extra cautious before the planned one.

I'd go for the soup, but make sure it's nutritious and maybe with some greens. Whatever is inside you now will need to be pooed out with a healing c-section wound and a cocktail of drugs sending your digestive system a bit crazy. I stuck to soup and herbal tea the day after my section too and my insides were so much better for it.

Thanks. I think I'll stick with soup just to be on the safe side!

Have a big dinner. I was told the same as you and didn't get my elcs till 7.30pm. I wasn't allowed, not just anything to eat all that day, but anything to drink either. The other women in the ward were given glasses of water but not me. When I complained about how thirsty I was I was allowed to suck on an ice cube.

I was put on a drip when it was clear I wouldn't be seen until mid afternoon earliest.

I'm not in the UK so it's pretty certain that it will be around 8 in the morning unless there's an emergency that takes precedence. The hospital's not that big that they'd have back to back emergencies for 12 hours! You never know I suppose though!
