Does it have to be fresh or can it be tinned?

fresh because it's one of the enzymes that does the business and that would be killed during the canning process

allegedly

bubble99 · 24/04/2006 21:04

The man from Del Monte loves these kinds of threads, lovecloud. Try it, but it did B all for me.

melsy · 24/04/2006 21:05

think you have to eat like 7 fresh fresh fresh ones to get the amounts of enzyme required though, worth a try , as long as you dont get acid !!(and may be not 7 lol)

SleepyJess · 24/04/2006 21:06

Nah.. it just gives you gut rot trust me on that! Only way it could have any effect (and this is fresh not tinned) is if you cervix is ripe anyway, and the mad contracting of your aggravated bowel, triggers off other activity. But it will only make it a few hours sooner if that.. and it's hardly worth it for the gut rot!!

You are better off DIY-ing it, ITKWUM! Wink Works a treat! (trust me... :))

SleepyJess · 24/04/2006 21:07

IYKWI*M obv!!!

lovecloud · 24/04/2006 21:16

Ah crap!

Just noticed I have a large tin, probably been there for years anyway.

I am just sick of being pregnant and not actually due for a couple of weeks but I figured, I'm big enough, got everything ready, sick of peeing all day and I want to walk fast Wink

... will have to do "the doggy" again tonight Grin dh is shattered!!!

lovecloud i felt exactly like you at 38 weeks with dd - just sensed i couldn't manage another day, so even though I had no actual labour signs I walked up and down stairs and hills, then had a very spicy curry and hey presto my waters went - wasn't long till I was in full blown labour but boy did I regret the curry - came up with a vengeance!!!
I tried raspberry leaf tea with first pregnancy - did nothing really. I truly believe it was the motion of walking up and down that got things moving as she seemed to be moving a bit lower all the time and then the pressure broke the waters. Good luck!

LadyTophamHatt · 24/04/2006 21:36

fresh but its' bollocks anyway. The only thing it did to me was give me a sore tongue.

try grapes, loads and loads of them.
That worked for me, and I think colditz said the same.

Flamesparrow · 24/04/2006 21:38

Had oodles of grapes and pineapple from about 36 weeks, and he came on due date... but he probably would have done anyway!

Had oodles of pineapple night before labour with DD, and she came next day... but she was 4 weeks over, so probably would have done anyway Wink

4 weeks over FS.....OMG I suprised she didn't walk out

bubble99 · 24/04/2006 21:42

lovecloud. How many weeks are you? I know cervical 'sweeps' are a bit contraversial (sp?) here but they worked for me!

Get yerself off to a midwife and see if they can't get things going for you.

sweetkitty · 24/04/2006 21:42

Did sod all for me either except made ny guts dodgy.

I tried EVERYTHING with DD2 and nothing worked was resigned to the induction but she eventually came 12 days late. Going overdue again has really put me off being pregnant again (DD1 was 15 days early) so I can totally sympathise with you.

With DD1 I booked myself in for a brazilian so I would be all spruce for the big day (first time mum) of course DD1 decided to arrive early so my suggestion is book yourself in for some lovely beauty treatments, haircut etc and the baby is bound to appear.

Flamesparrow · 24/04/2006 21:43

lmao - she was very alert from day one. You know how you have the first few weeks with closed eyes and sleepy - she stared round the room constantly from day one!

sweetkitty · 24/04/2006 21:43

bubble - sweep did nothing for me and I would never have another one I'm sure she yanked my tonsils!

SleepyJess · 25/04/2006 10:52

[clears throat] Do I need to be a bit less coy about the technique to put oneself into labour, if you have a ripe cervix? (And at a week overdue, it must be ripe!)

You need orgasms.. and lots of them.. repeatedly, until your womb gets the idea that contacting is the thing to do.. and just carries on. These can be achieved whatever serves you best (!) as long as you keep them coming thick and fast for a bit!

I kicked started my last two labours like this.. the last one, as I sat at the pc playing solitaire at the same time! (While the rest of the family were in bed asleep) Blush Grin Nothing remotely erotic, or even that pleasurable about it.. just a means to an end! I went off to bed contracting mildly (Braxton Hicks style) and woke up in early labour.. bingo!

:) ahem [retires from thread] Blush

lusciouslynda · 25/04/2006 11:29

Hmm.. must be more fun than loads of pineapple.

compo · 25/04/2006 11:45

playing Soltaire.... and no pun intended?!! pmsl

rosebea · 25/04/2006 11:46

I ate two the two days running up to labout with both mine so I'm a believer and I hate the damn things! bleugh makes me gag just thinking about them!
Smile

colditz · 25/04/2006 11:50

Grapes Worked for me!

Flamesparrow · 25/04/2006 11:53

lol SleepyJess... I tried that too - logic made it make sense, and she still wouldn't bloody come out!

SleepyJess · 25/04/2006 15:58

Nope, no pun intended.. I was literally playing pc solitaire.. Grin with the..er.. other hand... Grin I could never stand being nine months gone.. too darn uncomfortable with my big babies... and at full term they need to come out! (lest anyone think I am a serial bean-flicker... Blush)
