Slight show tues afternoon (41 week)

Had a sweep later that day.

Mild contractions or braxton hicks (not sure which) started 2 hour after sweep that continued thru the night every 15 mins.

They'd stopped by wednesday morning, then started again mid morning. Got to about 10 mins apart. At 10pm went to labour suite (i'm group b strep so needed antibiotics.)

Had waters broke at 3am and eventually ended up having emerg c-sec thurs afternoon.

Very mild period-type pains while we waited for a table. Waters breaking just after we'd ordered!

lunavix · 23/04/2006 22:18

number 1 - mild pains during eastenders (39+4) which progressed quickly to stronger pains every 1 minute, or every 3 (irregular) went to hospital and told to b* off as not in labour, after a couple of hours at home went back and shouted saying I was. 24 hours ds was born. Contractions never became regular.

number 2 - yet to see!

Bladee · 23/04/2006 22:24

DD - show & hind waters - 14 long hours later plus pain relief (pethadine & morphine - gas & air - throwing up after every puff - yuk) she decided to arrive.

DS - show - 4 hrs later (half an hour of that in hospital with some lurvly gas hic and hic air) & he made his arrival.

hulababy · 23/04/2006 22:28

It didn't really ever start, despite 50 hours worth of induction and every thing possible tried. Got to 2/3cm and never into established labour, despite awful pains.

i also think io am fully engaged and i am 38 weeks. its also my third baby so we r in the same boat i guess, i've had backache all day and i also had a huge burst of energy, so i cleaned my whole house totally spotless. i hope we give birth soon, my kids are 3, and 1, and they were both born 2-3 weeks before thir due date, the midwife said that there is 30% chanse that this one would arrive early too, so hopefully she's right... hope we'll find out soon enough!

leylabez · 04/06/2006 13:56

with my first baby i took castor oil and orange juice drink at 38 weeks, 2 hours later was feeling cramps in my tummy, and went to the hospital. when i got there they told me i started to dialate and that it'll be at least 13 hours till i delivered, and told my husband to go home and get some rest. they have me sleeping tablets, as there was still a lot of time to go pass, an hopur later the pain woke me up and they called my husband to come in. 10 minutes later as my husband walked into the room, i gave birth to a 3.9 kg baby boy.
with my second one i also took castor oil and juice, two hours later i was in hospital having regular and painful contractions, they said to me to go gome if the pain was bearable as i was only 3 cm dialated, so i left the hospital but was back there half an hour later. ten minutes after that i gave bith to a beautiful baby girl 2.9 kgs.

DS - Woke up at 8.30am, having pains, went to hospital at 11.45am, born just after noon (12.29pm i think!) waters went with first push.

DD - sat in hospital with HBP eating maccyd's choccy muffin and my waters broke (11.30am), went down to delivery straight away, born at 3.11pm.

Contractions much worse with waters gone all the way through!

leander · 04/06/2006 18:20

nicnack2 · 04/06/2006 18:22

dig and snow Blush

GarfieldsGirl · 04/06/2006 18:25

ds1 - little twinges started at 2pm, about 4mins apart, went into hospital at 830pm, then show/waters/fully dilated all at the same time, born at 2152.

ds2 - sweep at 41wks, woke at 145am with definite contractions, went into maternity unit, he was born at 330am. No show, he was delivered with waters still intact.

nicnack2 · 04/06/2006 18:31

garfleidgirl. hope you dont mind me asking was it odd having you ds born with waters untact or did they break immediately on delivery?

blueteddy · 04/06/2006 18:40

DS1 - horrible backache combined with braxton hicks all night.
Waters broke in hospital & didn't notice a show.

DS2 - painful braxton hicks all night (this time pain in stomach), frequent trips to the toilet & then waters broke just before leaving for hospital. Again, I didn't notice a show.

expatinscotland · 04/06/2006 18:41

Contractions.

That's it.

No show and my waters didn't break till I was 8cm dilated w/dd1 and at delivery w/dd2.

GarfieldsGirl · 04/06/2006 18:53

nicnack2 - I've never really thought about it actually. m/w did have to break them once he was out. I'm really not sure, maybe a little more slippery, but the sudden wetness afterwards did feel odd once m/w broke the waters. DP saw him in the sac, he said that was really strange.

Pruni · 04/06/2006 19:01

Mild contractions in early hours
Got stronger
Then a show
Then hospital, where mw broke waters ("tough sac" apparently)
No doubts for me that time, really

GarfieldsGirl · 04/06/2006 19:42

right nicnack lets try again now I've had a chance to think about it. My last description was a bit eeuurgghhh!!! Blush couldn't think of a better way to describe it. The delivery was a lot easier with ds2, but the whole thing was a lot quicker. His shoulders didn't get stuck, so maybe the waters not breaking helped there, but It may just be that I was prepared for it this time and knew what to do and just got on and pushed him out instead of being a baby and refusing to push cos it made me feel sick!! Also he was about 1.5lb bigger than ds1 so I don't know what difference that makes, but yes he did feel to 'slide out' a lot easier (another pleasant description!). And TBH I was a lot more overwhelmed with ds2 than I wa with ds1.

Sorry for the hijack Lovecloud. Good luck with no.2 Smile

nicnack2 · 04/06/2006 19:44

didnt mind the description, just wondered if it was odd seeing babe still in the sac.

PanicPants · 04/06/2006 19:50

Waters broke - trickle so I wasn't sure

No pain

went to bed after phoning hosp

woke up with backache (same that I had all 3rd timaester so I didn't think anything of it-until it was coming in waves 3mins apart)

Phoned hosp and they said it could be labour even though no period like pains or pains in bump

Arrived at hosp 8cm dilated

Gas and air made me loopy so don't remember much accept ds being born with ventuse 5 hours later.

No show, waters only a trickle. Dp said at one point there was a proper gush and blood everywhere at the hosp but I don't remember that at all!
