Stitches...

I know vaguely that I had tears front and back when delivering DS but nothing as mentioned about 1st, 2nd or 3rd degree tears. As I know what a 3rd degree tear is i can say I definitely didn't have one of those but...and turn away now if your squeamish...I recently had a look (DS is 18 months) and well it's a mess down there, literally unrecognisable IYSWIM. Is this normal?

Can't remember if mine was classified as second or third degree, but it ended up with some flesh on the outside that should have been on the inside.... and was a bit uncomfortable generally so I approached my gp months later, and after the birth of ds2 (no stitches) got properly repaired - it was really worth plucking up the courage to broach the subject.

I love you monkeytrousers... the mumsnetcup hit a nerve here and i can't now maintain a straight face. Given the state of my downstairs, I am glad DD is frightened of balloons ATM.

monkeytrousers I started a thread about this ages ago and most people seemed shocked that I'd had a look in the first place

So I had this great idea that I should start a website called the Vagina Gallery and we could all post pics of our Secret Places for comparison but that did not get much enthusiasm either

Anyway mine's like something by Damian Hirst if that's any consolation

I think spidermama may have mentioned an 'open steak and kidney pie' which seemed appropriate description for me

ei23 · 19/04/2006 13:32

i had a 2nd degree tear which took ages- about 12weeks- to stop hurting. i have also had a sneaky peak and have got to say mine is nothing like it was before! i have never been in the habit of inspecting my crotch but its times like these when curiosity gets the better of me!!Grin
anywho mine still looks like an extra from 'alien' but doesnt hurt anymore so im just crossing my fingers that all is well in beaver town and i dont need a radical restitch!Smile

ei23 · 19/04/2006 13:33

pmsl at steak and kidney pie!!

bitsamaloney · 19/04/2006 13:40

youve just squeezed a melon through it, would you really expect it to look the same as before??

monkeytrousers · 19/04/2006 20:25

Well that's a relief. And surely there's no such thing as to much information on mumsnet?

I like the vagina gallery MP. Sounds more of a laugh than the 'monologues' with Lisa Riley and Sharon Osborne.

I'll be telling my mooncup anecdote when I'm 8o - embarrassing the grand kids at xmas Grin

Okay I'm off back to work!

Earlier on I was thinking about starting a mortgage thread (ohmigod!) and felt embarrassed - funny how we will happily talk about the state of our fannies but money makes me feel REALLY awkward!

monkeytrousers · 05/05/2006 11:21

Just to resurrect this for a mo - on having a casual discussion about perineal massage with DP (as you do) I had another look and discovered I don't actually have one anymore!!

Mt has your GP had a look down there recently??? What does she think??.

My perineal passage is still there albeit a little lop sided, I got stitches on one side when I had an episiotomy with my first, and the stitched end is shorter than the non-stitched end.....

monkeytrousers · 06/05/2006 19:03

LOL Fuzzy.

I haven't mentioned it to the doc yet. I think it'll probably come in handy with the next one, IYKWIM

Every time I post on this thread I can't get that XXXX ad out of my head - "I can see the pub from here!"

As it's you (ie it's the whole of the bloomin' internet but I've had a glass of wine) I'll confess that stitching can, er, isolate a small area without sensation, ahem...
...I can't bear to look. Five years on. It's very unlike me.

monkeytrousers · 26/05/2006 21:36

Went to the doc's yesterday and everything is fine apparently. Never be a porn starlet though, not without major reconstructive surgery to get the ideal labia - bloody fanny fascists!
