Am I going through the latent phase? Need help!!

I'm 37 weeks pregnant today but have been getting pains since last Friday. Tuesday night I also had a couple of painful contractions but there was nothing afterwards. Tuesday, Wednesday and today I have had a wet patch in my knickers, and today I am very achey in my back and legs, just like how I felt when I was having a period. I had a midwife appt yesterday and she said the wet patches were probably wee, but it doesn't feel like it's coming out of that part... At the beginning of the week baby was being very active for most of the day but today and yesterday they have reduced. Not enough for me to be worried, I am still feeling baby move, (and hiccup!), but it is alot less.
Please someone help me!
Thanks :)

It's the great big guessing game at your point, sorry!

I had a very long latent phase with ds, I include it in my labour hours (HCPs didn't! Angry as it was painful enough to be.

If you think your waters are leaking then see your mw as she can check and tell you quickly. You do get lots of strong braxton hicks's and loads of discharge towards the end though so it could be that.

The last couple of weeks suck, have a Brew and try to keep your mind occupied on something else as if that's possible. Good luck!

My latent phase lasted about a fortnight. I got braxton hicks from about five months, so I assumed it was still those, but it turned out they were actually doing something... every night they'd be a bit more painful than before and every night I went to bed assuming I'd not be getting much sleep, only for it all to calm down again. I also had lots of watery discharge which I thought was my waters going, but it wasn't.

So, sorry but it might go on for a while yet! However, when my waters did eventually go (with a very unmistakeable gush) it was only 12.5 hours til I delivered, so reasonably nice and quick!

Same here gwennie, from waters gushing to delivery it was 9 hours and my official labour time is 4 hours (from established labour to delivery) so not too bad for a first dc.

Sorry, im ten weeks behind you and have all those symptoms. And I did at this point the last time too, but little devil was still two weeks late and a 37 hour labour so .... I wouldnt be getting hopes up to be honest.

babyperks · 13/12/2012 15:24

Ah right ok. I'm not getting my hopes up as I know it could last for a while, I just wish there was some sort of sign! Midwife did say yesterday that it sounds as though things could be happening, but of course it could still take a while! My mum, sister and sister-in-law didn't go into labour naturally so I'm pretty limited on people to ask for advice! Thank you all anyway.

If you have any reduced movements you really should go and get it checked out.I had a four day latent phase but no reduced movements, that's not a symptom.

I'm happy with baby's movements, some days it is more active than others. Symptoms seemed to have died down a little bit now so I haven't a clue what was going on!
