um.. toilet issues after c sec...(tmi)

So i had my first dc by emcs nearly 8 months ago. Emcs was fine as was recovery. I had a 40 hour back to back labour, failed induction and then quite a bit of bleeding before eventually getting a crash section. Everything was fine until about 5 months ago. I.noticed i was getting bowel movement and urges but then just passing blood or mucous.
At first i thought piles but its not got better and more recently i have found it harder to stop the urges. I.e need to run to loo.
I'm starting to think the long back labour and or emcs has given me some kind of rectal incontinance? Is this possible?

I did initially and he said it would be internal piles and they would clear up within a few weeks. Feel a bit silly.going back as no pain or anything like that.

Hi Feekerry, Congratulations, we were both on the same ante-natal thread at some point.

Sorry to hear you are suffering so long after your EMCS. I have had two EMCSs and recovery takes longer than most people think, but 8 months on you shouldn't be still having trouble. You need to go back to your GP and get a specialist referral.

It could well have been the long back to back labour putting a lot of pressure on the anal sphincter, weakening it resulting in rectal incontinence.

Kegel exercises might help strengthen the anal sphincter muscle and give you more control, if you find them difficult you can get special training devices (can't remember name someone else might know).

No i no. Just feel a bit embarrassed about going. I know i shouldn't. Need to grow up really

You must go back to your doctor, it is concerning that you.'re passing blood and mucus, this could be because of something straightforward like the internal piles but could also b a sign of something more serious like inflammatory bowel disease. Go back and explain that you feel it needs further investigation.

i had very similar issues (very loose motions, lots of yellow/slightly bloody mucus etc) about the same time after my EMCS. I was convinced it was rectal cancer/polyps etc - my dr was convinced it wasn't. It wasn't - it really was piles/slight colon irritation. it was really odd - lasted about three months, I used suppositories and it went away.

However, I was at my drs every week fretting about it - you do need to go and get it checked to rule out any nastier illnesses. mine responded well to the suppositories, which made me feel better.

Hi feekerry, I remember you from the pregnancy threads, too - my baby was born (by semi-elective CS)at almost exactly the same time as yours, I think. I think Zhen and Haggis's explanations are very likely, but do go and get it checked out again and spare yourself the worry.

I also had symptoms that pointed to something serious but seemingly undetectable, which recently resolved themselves when something happened that made sense of earlier symptoms - not serious, but I was cross with myself at how much energy I'd wasted on worry.

Just a little update. Went and saw doctor. Internal piles they think so have got some supposatories and already i think there is an improvement. Thanks all

That;s good - i found it hard to believe piles could be so unpleasant, but they can be! I found mine rapidly improved with the suppositories. Hope you feel better soon!
