Has anyone used this from 37 weeks onwards to prepare for labour? It was recommended to me by my local health food shop when I went in to buy some Arnica but now I'm nervous about taking it as I'm not sure whether it carries any risk. I'm also concerned as to whether it will have any effect on the thyroxine medication I take for my Hashimoto's disease (underactive thyroid). Anyone know anything about it? I'm currently 37+4. I will ask my midwife but not due to see her until next week so any Mumsnet advice gratefully received!

Yes it worked for me , I gave birth bang on my due date, had an easy labour , I started taking it towards the end. I took arnica during labour and recovered from the birth very quickly. Qualified gynocologist recomeneded it.

I didn't take it, or arnica (herbal or otherwise) - went overdue, was induced and EMCS, but recovered very quickly. So I say that not taking Arnica helps you heal, but not taking caulophyllum had no effect (make it through those double negatives if you can)

Anecdotes don't equal evidence, you can't even get a homeopath to explain how it works, or provide any actual proof that it does, and until at least one of those happens there is no reason to believe it does.

Why not spend the money on something that'll relax you instead - which is proven to result in quicker, smoother labours.

Slight sidetrack, but at my mother's school (infant teacher) they wipe bruises and bumps with 'magic water' on a pad of cotton wool and apparently it has an amazing success rate.

Not sure if it was creating by someone subtly undermining homeopathy at an early age, or someone who wanted to create willing subjects for future remedies!
