Natural third stage or the jab?

Anyone have any advice? Just moved hospital (35 wks) and told by midwife they always as standard allow the placenta to be birthed naturally, takes up to an hour of waiting. I'd read everywhere else they give a jab to speed up the process,.so it takes ten mins - they'll do the jab on request. Which is better?

Doris I didn't know about that at all - it has never been mentioned to me by a midwife. So if rh- it is better to delay cord clamping?

Had the jab, can't remember anything at all about third stage delivery, it was all very straightforward (I didn't have any other drugs, and was adamant I didn't want eg an epidural, but i figured that once the baby was out I may as well get everything else done and dusted ASAP)

That's how it was explained to me, it is included in the world health organisation recommendations m.kenyon.webnode.com/world-health-organization/
Also there is a doctor called Sarah Buckley who has written about it. She's very pro natural just to warn you but gives good info.
You could of course wait until the cord stops pulsating and then ask for the jab then if you're knackered! Best of both worlds, your baby gets all her blood back too Smile
