Is it possible to have psychosomatic labour?

39 weeks today but all through pregnancy have been convinced baby is arriving today. This morning I've been having cramps in my pelvis (different from the twinges I've had in the last few weeks) & can feel my abdomen tightening when the cramps are happening, baby isn't moving as much as previously, so I'm wondering if these are signs of labour, wishful thinking or if I'm just imagining these symptoms into being psychosomatically?

Could be, I was convinced both mine would appear on a certain day. Neither did! Towards the end different pains/sensations occur as the body gears up and the extra weight pushes down, but who knows. I can remember my midwife saying I would 'Know' when things were happening. Babies settle towards the end anyway, so could be just getting ready. Maybe you are more insightful than me and maybe your baby will come and the cramps/tightenings are the beginnings, but I would wait for show/waters/regular contractions...............keep us posted though!!! Exciting, congrats:) Is it your first?

Nope already got a toddler, 2.7 but spent most of early labour with him
In total denial that it was happening as he was also a week early. I do feel like I 'know' but didn't last time but not convinced either if that makes sense? If it wasn't today I would probably be more convinced!

Sounds very much like early labour to me, if baby isn't moving as much as normal it's really important to get it checked out. All the best.

Well things seem to have quietened down again so maybe a false alarm Sad.
