I'm due to give birth there shortly (36 weeks). It's my second but I was at a different hospital last time. Anyone given birth here recently?

When are you due whatso

Had ds2 at st Mary's last summer.

Don't know where to have ds3 due in 6 weeks!

Considering Salford MLU as I've been told I can get 121 care there. But needed assisted delivery last time and I just can't decide what to do.

You had your baby today notgrownup?

Have I read that right?

Congratulations if so!

PropositionJoe · 17/09/2012 20:47

Congratulations!!

I had my two there, as did all my friends. No horror stories, honestly.

PropositionJoe · 17/09/2012 20:48

Oh gawd now I'll have to name change again.....

I had my ds there 2 years ago. The birthing suite is gorgeous though I didn't get to use it (induced) and the post natal ward lovely too.
I saw many midwives in my 5 day stay and they were lovely too Smile

Notgrownup - I saw one episode of Midwives that was on the Wirral & one at St Mary's - tried to avoid it before that in case I saw stuff that scared me!

Boysboysboys - 4 October. There was the odd person at my ante-natal classes going to Hope, but I didn't get to talk to any of then I'm afraid.

Notgrownupinmyhead · 17/09/2012 21:34

I had him on the 16th. I forgot to take shoes with me so was in DH's socks!!

The doc was called The Midwives and mostly based at St Marys and some at Arrowe Park.

If Trafford was still open I would've gone there. Never mind.

Hope it all goes well for ya!!

BoysBoysBoysAndMe · 17/09/2012 21:41

Good luck whatso. I had to read what you wrote several times before I understood it. I thought you meant the odd person was going to Salford. As in the odd bod! I'm exhausted, blaming the tiredness.

And congratulations notso. Lol at socksGrin had ds1 at Trafford. Wish they'd kept it open. Enjoy your newborn.

I'm loving these stories. I was getting so anxious about birth before, despite being my second.

Good luck whatso. I'm due a week after you but booked in at Wythenshawe.

Care was great at wythenshawe, I had a long, complicated labour and delivery in the end and at all times I felt I was in great hands and had confidence in the midwives and consultants. I had an epidural for induction and then C-section which was brilliant and also a spinal later on which was also great. Anaesthetists were brilliant.

Breat feeding support not so great til I saw a BF specialist who was amazing. Any issues, ask for one straight away would be my advice.

Lizzietow · 18/09/2012 21:49

Thanks maxijazz that's also really helpful Smile

Congrats Notgrownup!

Boysboysboys - lol, I'm sure they were very nice & not odd at all!

Lizzie - best of luck with your birth too.

I would definitely have gone to Trafford General if it was still open too. It's 5 minutes drive from my house, whereas 30 minutes to St Mary's (and would have been 25 minutes to Wythenshawe I think.) The thought of going in & being sent home for not being far enough along & having 2 hours in the car in labour terrifies me a bit. Just hope I can hold out at home long enough for that not to happen!

Notgrownupinmyhead · 19/09/2012 11:56

Thanks Grin

Good luck though to the others!
