Hi, not sure if this is the right forum, but just wondered if this sounds normaL.
The ridiculous thing is that i have already had a section 4 yrs ago but can't remember what my first period was like, but i know it wasn't quite like this.

DD is 7 weeks now and i started my period on Thursday night, started like normal a bit of spotting and light blood but woke up Friday morning and my whole side of the bed was saturated, i acutally think i may need to get a new matteress Sad i went to the toilet and could hear the blood hit the water, looked down and saw a big chunk of clot, about half the size of my hand, it was pouring out of me for about just under a minute, but felt like ages.
And tbh it hasn't really let down that much, i have had to put a towel and maternity sheet left over on to the arm chair so i can sit down, but as soon as i stand up i start flooding.
Im starting to feel quite tired and dizzy and a bit sick, not sure what to do, but dh wants me to go to the doctors on monday if its not any better.
I have healed fine from the section, no problems with infection and don't want to make a fuss if this is normal.

Oh you poor thing. This does not sound like a period at all. If I were you having had a c-section not long ago I wouldn't waste any time in going to the hospital never mind the doctor on Monday. You say you had a chunk of something come out, could it be a piece of retained placenta? May be haemorrhaging? Best to get checked out by a doctor asap xx

Doesn't sound normal to me either.

I was still bleeding 6 weeks post section but it was really light. First period was after 8 months both times and fairly normal.

I would phone NHS 24. For reassurance if nothing else.

No, that's not normal - tbh if you are feeling dizzy. and sick, I would get to an out of hours GP asap - they can at least check your blood pressure etc and see if you are losing too much blood.

By all means try NHS 24, but (a) they normally say take a couple of paracetamol and go to A & E if it gets worse (b) it'll probably be Monday before someone calls you back to tell you that!
