I'm 23 weeks and I think I should probably be taking more exercise - mainly because it's said to make labour easier for myself and baby.

This is my first so I am keen to hear your experiences - good or bad!

Were you very active all the way through, only to be unfortunate and have a difficult labour?

Or did you not bother with exercise and still have a reasonably fast/easy time in labour?

I really appreciate any information you'd be kind enough to share.

I found this extract from a birthing site, which back up what Edgarolympic posted.

Sutton and Scott note that the rate of posterior presentation has increased drastically in the last few decades, apparently in line with changes in the way women use their bodies. Sitting in car seats and leaning back on comfortable sofas, together with less physical work, have combined to produce an increase in posterior presentations. Paying attention to your posture in the last few weeks of pregnancy can help to reverse this trend. Since keeping reasonably active in pregnancy, and practising good posture, isn't going to do anyone any harm, this theory at least deserves to be considered

I trained all the way through my pregnancy and found it helped me adjust to the changes in my body. Did I have an easier labour?? My baby needed an emergency c section so I don't know how it would effect it but I do know my recovery from the c section was awesome! Almost a yr after the birth of my son and I am trying out for regional competitions.
An easy labour isn't the only benefit of exercise.... Check this out.
