If you can just rock up (or rather do so after phoning) your neatest hospital (as apposed to where you are booked)? Thanks!

Yes, you can go to any A+E, but best if you phone your MW unit & ask for their advice, they may come out to your (house visit).

ps: why are you worried?

frustratedpants · 12/08/2012 13:15

I used to phone, tell them how worried I was, and was always told to just turn up. but nearest hospital was where I was booked If I was on holiday I guess I would just turn up.

Have you tried the "lying in bed eating an icepole" approach to see if you have any movements?

Hypothetical question as I work is few hours away from my booked hospital - thanks for the quick responses tho!!

i used to keep my notes in the car if I went out of the catchment area.

Always keep your hand held maternity notes with you so staff have some information (esp if you're at a different hospital to one you are "booked" into). Always best to contact the Labour Ward/delivery suite first as they can advise you where best to go - never known anyone not seen with reduced fetal movements, but different Trusts have different procedures where you will be seen at. For example Trust I work at has a Fetal Well Being Unit (Mon - Fri 0830-1600) which is where we advise women to go during those hours but out of hours it is our Triage dept (next to LW). So ringing in advance is always helpful, a) staff can be expecting you, b) you can go direct to most appropriate place rather than being sent all round the hospital.

Always try and go direct to maternity unit rather than A & E as most times A & E will not see you but send you round to maternity (depending on circs)

Hope you ok - if ever in doubt over fetal movements please seek advice - MWs would always prefer for you to come in and get checked out Smile
