dSis may be having a CS today at 37w and is unfortunately in a different city to where she was due to deliver. So what does she really really NEED as they have nothing here at all! Want to dig out/borrow/buy the essentials for her (unfortunately given her most of my stuff already and it's at her home 200 miles away!)

Car seat, nappies, wipes and sleepsuits. Breastpads, maternity towels and a heap load of paracetamol for her.

A button down nightie (for feeding)
She shouldn't need lanisoh yet, so hold off on that. Ditto breastpads.
Nappies
Maternity pads
Cotton wool
Sleepsuits for the baby
Flipflops for walking around (the day after the section she will be encouraged to get up and about)

fuckityfuckfuckfuck · 01/08/2012 19:04

Mars I needed breastpads when I was pregnant Blush Agree that Lansinoh can wait a couple of days though, in fact I didn't need it at all for dc3 so I have a tube here going to waste, if you want me top pop it in the post for you tomorrow OP just PM me :)

Yes, I know about mums that leak colostrum from pregnancy, but I still wouldn't add it as an essential iyswim. Smile

Not sure if this applies for c-section (& I'm assuming she may not have her bag) but GIANT pants for her, big enough to come up over the scar. A 5 pack of cotton comfy pants from primark or M&S is cheap and can be chucked away. They are much much more comfortable than the disposable ones that they hospital give you or you can buy.

Xenia · 01/08/2012 19:38

The essentials are nappies in large numbers. Next is clothes that will fit a small newborn baby. Sanitary towels for her.
Not sure much else is essential.
We bought the pram which had a carry cot bit the baby slept in until big enough for a cot when I was in labour! It can be tempting fate to buy too much before the baby is there.

Gooseysgirl · 01/08/2012 19:41

I second craving cake on the humongous pants!! M&S black cotton Lycra full briefs at least two sizes bigger than she would normally take...

Gooseysgirl · 01/08/2012 19:44

Also flip flops as she will find it v difficult to bend over, and shower gel with a hook on it for the same reason!

MarsLady · 02/08/2012 18:29

Did she have the section Silversixpence?

SilverSixpence · 04/08/2012 18:28

Hi, yes she had it that night, it's been hectic since then! Baby had cord wrapped round neck so ended up with CS. They are both doing well though :)
