Best music playlist for labour?

So I was watching the Olympic opening ceremony, and I really enjoyed Mike Oldfield's performance - made me realise I think I definitely want the full Tubular Bells on my iPhone for labour! Before pregnancy I always enjoyed doing longer runs to it on quiet mornings - definitely an album you can focus on during sustained physical activity (hence suitable for labour)? And probably a Karl Jenkins compilation album too (can you tell I listen to Classic FM on the bus to and from work?!).

I'm only 27 weeks, but I think I need to start planning my music playlist for labour! It's more fun than planning which storage cupboards to clear out in the next month. Grin

Therefore to paraphrase the excellence that is High Fidelity, what are your desert island, all-time, top-five songs/albums for labour?

The idea of having a playlist for labour never crossed my mind when I was pregnant with DC1.

In labour I was so stoned off my head on gas & air that I was "chatting" to the radio, and DH still teases me about me giving advice to a man on a radio advert for a sofa shop Blush

Almost 3 years later I still don't think I missed out on anything for not having music on in labour.

However, my taste in music is more of the Metallica, Slayer, Volbeat so likely would have scared the baby into wanting to stay in the womb Wink

Salt n' Peppa 'Push It'
Bob Marley 'No woman no cry' (cause everything's gonna be alright'

I love music but as the midwife tried to put the radio on, I growled at her to turn it off. I got quote irate a couple of hours later when she tried again. My DH says I was pretty 'forceful' about wanting quiet.
Really not like me in day to day life!

If I did have a playlist if want something soothing for the first few hours, come down type music. Then some belters by Beyonce and the like for pushing, maybe some angry Alanis Morrissette!

I listened to the March of the Penguins and Miss Potter soundtracks.

I would have strangled anyone who tried to play music while I was in early labour, "relaxing", "invigorating" or otherwise.

And by the time the action was really happening I wouldn't have noticed if Metallica were tuning up next door.

i downloaded a spa album. you know tinkly music you can have in background and not get distracted by. I had a water birth and it kind of helped add some sound to the room other than my heavy breathing through contractions. I'd never choose songs i knew, think they'd drive me mental.

I love love love Jason mraz. DH kindly put it on whilst I was in labour. After about a minute, it annoyed the crap out of me so much that had I the energy, I would have thrown the bloody ipod out the window.

So, I would see how you feel at the time so save unnecessary breakages!

I didn't have anything in particular last time but just bought ministry of sound chillout session & think it will be nice to play while labouring!
