Post csec v post vb stomach....

Is it harder to lose the Stomach weight after a csec than a vb? Is an overhang more likely do you think?

It's mainly out of curiosity that I'm asking. I'm 32wks with ds3 and an elcs is a possibility after having had 2 vaginal deliveries.

I've had a vaginal delivery first and then two elective sections. No overhang, no stretchmarks and no different than it was after the first delivery.

Unamedfemaleprotagonist- that's good to hear Smile. I've never had a really flat stomach, as it's just not my figure type, but I was happy with it post natally after vbs. I'm hoping it will be the same if I elect for a csec this time. It's not a major concern but I am interested. I have read and heard slot of women say it's harder to get figure back after csec.

I've had 2 cs and this time round I have a little bit of an overhang but it's only been 4 weeks and I am usually a size 8 with quite a flat tummy

hazelnutlatte · 24/07/2012 20:28

I had an emcs, I had a bit of an overhang but it was gone after 3 months or so. I'm still waiting for the last half stone of baby weight to go though!

Mobly · 24/07/2012 20:50

This is confirming what I suspected, that actual method of delivery mightn't make that much difference to the post natal stomach. Would imagine an overhang is possible regardless of method of delivery especially if a bigger baby.

I have a slim friend who has an overhang after 2 csecs, but her second baby was big and she is very tiny.

My skin on my stomach was looser & z bit wrinkly by belly button at my slimmest post natally, but not slot to be done about stretched skin.

If I opt for the csec I'm hoping I'll be able to get my figure back to roughly where it was after first 2. I don't mind a little scar. I also expect it may take a little longer due to the stomach muscles being weaker after surgery.

Mine were big babies but I'm not tiny. Size 12. I have 'stretchy fascia' apparently Hmm so I don't know if that's owt to do with it. I've never set foot in a gym and put four stone, two stone, and three stone on with my pregnancies.

Billy11 · 25/07/2012 00:33

my consultant said most of his patients dont get the overhang as there is a certain way to stretch the skin and make the incision that takes a lot longer but leaves a lot less overhang...i will let you know how it goes..im going in next week for my section

Mobly · 25/07/2012 07:49

Good luck Billy, hope it all goes well Smile

i had first emergency c cec and second vbac.

i have a bit if an overhang, but isn't that what's tummy pants are for anyway. i have a really big scar too. second vbac didn't make any difference.

Mobly · 25/07/2012 08:17

Mrsbucket, do you think the overhang is due to csection or just pregnancy generally?

OP posts:
MrsBucketxx · 25/07/2012 08:59

my overhang starts from my scar, and before ds i had a flat washboard stomach you could bounce pennys off.

did see a plastic surgery clinic Blush to see ofit could be fixed with lipo and a tuck, while i was there he explained that when you have a c section the muscles are cut so the don't stretch flat anymore coupled with the scar tissue adhering to the muscles internally causes the over hang.

i didn't get it done the recovery was months and not guaranteed to be perfect anyway.

I'm a size twelve everywhere and definately a flabby 14 over my tummy.

MrsBucketxx · 25/07/2012 09:02

if you could deliver naturally i would.

Mobly · 25/07/2012 10:39

Mrsbucket thank you for telling me of your experience. Don't be embarrassed about the surgery enquiry- although I wholeheartedly agree with not going ahead! Too risky.

What the surgeon told you does make sense.

I had a post csec muffin top. Its like the scar pulled in the flesh more sharply than it would have otherwise, so it squishes as though I'm wearing too tight pants. Without the scar I had a bit of a tummy, but it was less noticable as it was smooth rather than pulled in across the middle.
