Which birthing pool?

I'm looking into renting (possibly buying if we can afford it) a birthing pool but there seems to be so many options and different companies that I'm getting rather confused! Can anyone recommend a particular pool/website?

It depends on your budget, room size and facilities.
Barefoot birth pools do hire of top end pools that are thermostatically controlled and filtered, great for less fussing about and if you have an immersion heater, but not cheap.
Birth pool in a box is a good inflatable range, come in small or fancy versions and are widely available to hire or buy with all the accessories.
Lots of local homebirth groups have them to borrow, you just need a liner for £30, or ask around, often people buy them and hang onto them. Doulas often have one too so if you were thinking of having a pool, it can be worth holding out and asking her.

Hello - I got a birth pool in a box, it was lovely really spacious and easy to filter out the water with the water pump. we had a liner that we threw away afterwards. had it hooked up to the kitchen tap so had lots of warm water... and dh running back and forth adding buckets of hot - it kept him busy! the water cools down about 1degree every hour though, so it really wasn't a problem, I wouldn't bother with the expensive temp. controlled ones as it really wasn't an issue.

I went for the regular one, although I'm small I wanted SPACE, and I loved it. I bought my own, was thinking I could use it for next time... (not sure there's going to be a next time now - Labour is hard work!)

You can buy birth pool in a box kits on ebay, or brand new the sets are very similar costs to hiring.

my midwifes were quite impressed with it too.

I have given birth in a birth pool in a box mini and a la bassine, both are inflatable pools to buy for around £100.
I much preferred the Bpiab which had higher sides. I wanted to be on my knees leaning over the side and la bassine was too shallow, the water hardly covered my bottom in this position. Even though I'm 5'8" the Bpiab mini was adequate for me.
Both held their temp quite well for the 6 hours or so they were filled, I think I was in each for about an hour and a half without needing to top them up.
