When do things get better? My body is a wreck and so am I

I had my gorgeous daughter via C-section 9 days ago, and I feel fecking dreadful. My pregnancy was crap, and full of a lot of stress, so I didn't really expect to still be feeling crap now Sad. My bleeding is still bright red and shows no signs of slowing down. Infact sometimes I flood a towel within half an hour. On top of that, the maternity towels have made me blister, so I'm red raw. My mum went and got me some different ones, but it's made no difference. I've not used sanitary towels since I was a teen, because I can't stand the feeling.

Then, three days ago, my feet and ankles blew up. Thankfully my lovely GP came out to see me and has prescribed water tablets and some very fetching compression stockings. So, after having had SPD during my pregnancy, it's still painful to walk because of my feet Hmm. I can't win.

If you're still reading, bear with me because I've not quite finished whining Blush

My boobs hurt like a mother. And I'm convinced Dd was born with a razor blade in her tongue. I'm really struggling with the feeding now, and it started off really well. I just can't seem to get the latch properly, so she ends up just sucking my nipple. I mostly hit the ceiling when that happens. One of the breast feeding support workers is coming out to see me tomorrow, but in the meantime, I'm in agony.

And as if that wasn't enough, I now think my section wound might be infected because it's been weeping and smells a bit yuck! But I'm going to call my GP in the morning to see if I can get another home visit. I'm pretty sure I will need antibiotics.

SO......

When will all this get better please Blush

One tip I have, I used a sanitary towel pressed/tucked in against my wound and I also spray some savlon on it.

I felt awful after my emergency section. I should have rested more and demanded more support but overdid it and ended up with pain relief for weeks.

If it makes you feel optimistic I did get back to the gym at 12 weeks, obviously taking it easy though.

You'll get there in the end, it's just grim in the early days.

Glad to hear things are going ok McPhee

And that you might finally have got that elusive mcmuffin Wink

God you are bringing back memories...

By 9days I;d been out of hospital on a few days.

Breast feeding - I was the same, nightmare. Gopt easier and easier - we fed for 18 months

Scar - mine was fowl, took a while to make friedns with it again.... DH took pictures so i could see the progress. Also used mirror and made sure I saw health prifessional if anything changes. - All completely normal about 4 weeks later

Bleeding - man that was weird..... again, keep an eye and just let helath people know if any changes. mine stopped realyl suddenly... then I had one day of bleeding...then it stopped again.

Swollen stuff - settled in a few weeks.... though my shoes size is now bigger

No tips for egg mcmuffin except - do ask people around you for what YOU WANT, not what you think they want to do.

Many congratulations on your daughter :) You sound like you're doing all the right things jsut have to wait a little for your body to right itself after a big change.

Its so worth it

mumblecrumble I'm blooming pleased to hear you've had all this too. It makes me feel less alone and weird Blush

My scar is sooooo itchy today, but I don't dare scratch it because it still god damn hurts. And some of the feeling has come back since yesterday.

And I never got my egg mcmuffin again because it was totally throwing it down Hmm

Itching sensation is good McPhee :). Means the wound is healing - do not scratch!! Aloe Vera it if it's unbearable but no cortisone creams.

Due in a few weeks myself so been reading your thread with interest. Wishing you a speedy recovery and happy/ easy feeding :)

Hey itchy McPhee! Try a cold, wet/damp face cloth on your scar. It was the only thing which stopped my itchiness.
