Anyone else out there got a breech baby at 35/36 weeks?

My baby is breech - I'm nearly 36 weeks and I'm not very optimistic about it turning. (amniotic fluid is on the low side and legs are in an odd position, both of which make it harder for it to turn.) I have a scan next week to see what the latest position is and they'll take it from there. I'd be interested in what others in the same situation are being offered/advised by the NHS. I saw the consultant last week who was very keen that I try the manual manipulation procedure to turn it. I'm not really keen on this (sounds painful and seems v. unnatural) but will probably give it a go if that's what they advise since they say it has a 60pc success rate. I'm sure I won't attempt a vaginal delivery if it's still breech by 39 weeks as I think it's too risky. This is my third baby and I had two natural births with the first two so am disappointed by the idea of a c-section but will do whatever is safest for the baby.

Hello, my 2nd baby was breech until 37w (very frustrating). I wasn't too keen on manual turning, as in my NHS trust they say they turn approx 50%, but out of that, 50% turn back, so in effect 25% stay turned.

I really researched it and found a website called spinningbabies - I did the exercises, and that worked for me. Before he turned though, I found a method of accupuncture called Moxibustion, which is where they burn some herbs under your toe - it has an 80% success rate! My neighbouring NHS trust has a clinic as this apparently has much better results than manual turning - sounds great, although I was dubious about it at first, but having spoken to some who have tried it, was really happy to try:) Dont' hang about if you are going to try and book it, I found the accupuncturists around here pretty booked up.

Follow this link about it, it was published in the british medical journal aim.bmj.com/content/20/1/26.full.pdf

Good luck with turning!

Similar experience (and used same website!). I basically spent about 2 weeks on a birthing ball, watching telly on all fours (attractive), hanging upside down off the sofa... DS turned as I was walking through the train station one morning. It was the most bizarre feeling ever! I actually grabbed my bump as it felt like he had flipped out (if only he really came out that easily!).

My mate had reflexology to help her and swore it got her baby to turn. Good luck!

Hi, as a result of this recommendation I'm going for moxibustion tomorrow....according to the acupunturist, the ideal time to try it is 34 weeks, so i'm a bit late, but he still felt it had a very good chance of being effective. Worth a go! i feel very lucky to have got an appointment so quickly.

My DD was breech until the day before I was going in to have the manual manipulation at 36 weeks. The midwife felt she was too big and didn't have enough room to turn herself but she did......I felt her flip as I was doing some hardcore christmas shopping.
