ELCS in 3 days...& worried about BF

Hello,
I'm due a repeat ELCS this wednesday. I'm starting to really worry about breast feeding. With DS he just wasn't interested, he had a tongue tie (which was then cut) but still just wouldn't really feed - so I ended up expressing for the first month. I'd love to give BF another go with babyno2 but am anxious I won't be able to. QUESTION....anyone couldn't/didn't BF DC1 but had successful experience with DC2????
thanks for sharing x

EMCS with DS1, ELCS with DS2. Both BF, much easier with DS2.

Don't worry, think positive and persist.

But if it doesn't work, don't beat yourself up!! There is more to being a mum than BF!!

all 3 of my DC were sections.

DD1 didn't go well and I gave up, DD2 latched on in recovery and I couldnt get her weaned until 16m, DD3 fed for 10 weeks until I became unwell and the FF.

They are all healthy and happy btw Smile

I fed DS for 6 weeks but we had loads of problems and it was tough going. Kept up night feeds til 3 months. Had DD by section nearly 2 weeks ago and so far BFing is going well (touch wood) & much easier than last time. Best of luck!

Having a cs has absolutely no effect on breastfeeding success. Give it another try - different babies behave very differently so you may have more luck this time. But don't beat yourself up if it doesn't work out! I breastfed both my babies with no problems (after cs both times), but I saw friends go through terrible mastitis, milk supply problems, cracked nipples, and honestly I think they would have been better off switching to bottles.

I had an ELCS and am just winding up breast-feeding now, 13 months later (not by choice - my baby has started saying no and shaking her head when a boob is offered).
I don't remember the midwives expecting any problems with breast-feeding, and I'm sure I read on mumsnet that it's a myth that ELCS affects bf negatively.
Good luck!

Pressed send to quick Blush was going to say that in my experience it was more down to my baby "getting" it and me being willing to stick with it. Ds1 was a pita to feed when he went on to bottles too but at least someone else could give me a break!
