C-section with a toddler

Just to clarify, the toddler is already out, it's the little one that's going to be entering the world via the sun roof!
Our ds will have just turned two in August when we are booked in for a section. He was a natural delevery so I don't really know what to expect. The only bit I'm a bit worried about is not being able to pick up ds as he is still quite clingy, anyone got any experience or tips they care to share?

i had a CS , also after a first natural delivery, when DS was 2.9, so a little bit older. But i was really worried about the not picking up for cuddles thing - esp wary as a new baby had come along too. I neednt have worried really. Its true, in the early days you cant pick them up - but they can be lifted up to snuggle with you (have a lovely picture of me in hosp bed with DD few hours old and DS all snuggled up together). I just tried to make room on the sofa or wherever I was for him so that he could have a cuddle / story / chat whenever he wanted it. BF a newborn gave me lots of time for this Smile.

In terms of the CS I have to say I found the recovery MUCH easier than that of my natural delivery - I was able to sit up with no pain, and was out and about with DD much sooner too. At least with a ELCS, you can prepare your LO for what is about to happen and they will know that mummys tummy will be sore from where the doctors took the baby out.

Exciting times!!! Good luck.

Mine was 19 months when his brother was born. Lifting him up wasn't an issue at all at this age.

"Why don't you climb up on the sofa and give mummy a cuddle?".

"right, let's go upstairs, mummy's right behind you."
