Now I know midwives have seen all permutations of pubic embellishment from bushy to bald so I'm not worrying about what they will think. Am just asking out of curiosity.
I have stopped attempting to remove anything down there because I can't see it and don't feel it is safe to wield sharp implements at my nether regions effectively blind (am 38+6w). Just wondering how you approached/are planning to approach childbirth in regard to growing a lady jungle. (i.e. will I be normal turning up with a huge bush?).
This wouldn't even have been a question about 5 or 10 years ago as I can't remember any talk of removing pubes back then. It just seems to be the fashion now!

I did mine about 38 weeks to allow it to regrow so not completely bald. Really glad I did as had ds on Friday (at 40+1)and had quick labour with contractions starting 1.5 mins apart so couldn't have done it then. It has now made looking after my stitches easier as easier to keep clean. Did take me ages though with a razor and a mirror, had to have a nap once it was done!

Veet waxing strips. Can do in front of a mirror easy enough or just feel down the sides for landing strip look. Lasts for quite a few weeks too.

I did nothing from about 5 months on, ad i couldn't see. It didnt bother me about midwife or doc seeing everything "wild". And i dont remember having any trouble with matting or bleeding after. The one thing i did get embarrassed about was, my bowls didnt empty before i went to labour (which all books said i would Envy) and i ended up pushing out more than my DS Blush. Midwife was very good about that. DP still reminds me to this day about it Angry

V interesting thread, not a bit trivial - I'm only 25 weeks and already wondering about logistics as due for section at 39 weeks! :) Have this mad idea that if I go for a wax the agony will bring on labour or something Confused

Can you tell I'm a novice? :o

Isn't it Chatham House rules claire - what happens in the delivery room stays in the delivery room!

I didn't remove anything. If they have problems with a woman having hair 'down there' then they are not delievering my baby

I've had a brazilian every 4 weeks since 22 weeks when I stopped being able to see my own pubes to do them myself. Never had one before but really not that painful. Have one booked next week at 38+5 which should keep things neat for the birth and after. Last time I went for the wild look which as soon as my bump had gone was hideous to look at but I couldn't tackle it for ages due to stitches (and the blood was pretty grim and matted)

I had a bushy bush and no one mentioned it. Tbh it's always bushy.

omri · 25/06/2012 22:54

yes i had hot wax week before i was due - got it all taken off - just so i didnt have to think about it for ages after (short and neat for next few months)

Go au naturel. I dare you.

I am Shock at those of you who get your partners to perform intimate tasks like that. There are some things I like to keep private - putting bleach on my upper lip, having a face pack, going to the loo on my own, tidying up excess hair etc. I just feel that these things are personal.

yellowflowers · 26/06/2012 09:43

I agree bunbaker

(TMI) just got a sudden and painful attack of piles at 39+3. I am so looking forward to displaying my nether regions to all and sundry (not). Don't care so much any more about the pubes. just worrying about the battering my undercarriage is shortly about to undergo Shock.
