Periods after birth

Just wondering if this is within the realm of normal...

I gave birth 10 weeks ago, bled for 4 weeks, then 4 weeks after that had 2 days of pinky discharge. Assumed this was some sort of break through bleed/attempted period. But now 2 weeks on I've just started bleeding today like a normal period. I'm also exclusively breastfeeding. I'm a bit concerned about the two instances and the fact that I'm bleeding so soon again!

Should I see the doctor or is it just my body getting back in the swing of things?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I'd speak to your HV. I don't know about anyone else but I only got my periods back when DD was about 6mo. Did have some very light bleeds (pinky coloured) but nothing I'd call a real period. But that might just be me. If you've got no pain and the bleed isn't major I wouldn't be too concerned but try to drop in to one of your HV clinics for advice.

Hopefully someone else will come along in a sec and reassure you...

Should've said I was/am ebf too.

Thanks button. I do give dd a dummy, and have been told that this reduces contraceptive effect of bf, but I am still a bit shocked at periods returning so quickly!
I rang the doctor after first pinky bleed 2 weeks ago, who said it was fine and probably a false period, but now I'm worried about having 'real' blood only 2 weeks later.

Who told you that about a dummy?? Don't get how your uterus knows you give your baby a dummy?!! If you bf and ff together then that might work as your producing less milk if your feeding less but don't get how the dummy has any impact. But I don't use dummies (DD just spat them out!) so I might be talking bollocks!!!

Maybe find something else/another niggling problem to go to the DRs about and then you can say 'just one more thing whilst I'm here...'!!
